Codex Arcanis Wins Origins Award!

topic_origins-awards.jpg

The Codex Arcanis, the setting source book for the critically-acclaimed Arcanis: the World of Shattered Empires campaign setting, was named as the Best Role Playing Game Supplement by the attendees of the Origins Games Fair. We at Paradigm Concepts are honored by the award which incorporates the opinions of all aspects of the game industry. We would like to thank the jury members that chose the Codex as a semi-finalist, the retail store owners that selected it as a finalist, and the gamers that voted for Codex Arcanis as their favorite RPG supplement.

A list of authors for the Codex Arcanis follows, without their work, this award would have not been possible: Scott Charlton, J. Brian Dalrymple, Jared Fenell, Matt Forebeck, Sean Havranek, Henry Lopez, William Simoni, and Eric Wiener.

Most of all, Paradigm Concepts would like to thank the fans of Arcanis: the World of Shattered Empires, and the players of Living Arcanis. Without the support of the fans, we could not afford to produce products for Arcanis: the World of Shattered Empires.

Paradigm Concepts Releases for Origins!

OriginsReleases.jpg

Paradigm Concepts is pleased to announce our new releases for Origins 2008!

PCI 2402 "The Grand Tome of Adversaries"

"After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast--terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns." - Daniel 7:7

As the ancient Seal of Solomon has slowly faded over millennia, more denizens of the Invisible World slip once again into the world of man. Only the gifted ranks of Witch Hunters, amazing mortals that stand against the forces of the Adversary, are equipped to face terrors beyond human understanding.

This invaluable guide to the fearsome monsters of the Invisible World provides everything needed by the Grand Masters to challenge cadres of intrepid Witch Hunters with the foulest minions of the Adversary.

PCI 2403 "A Child's Game"

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour." - 1 Peter 5:8

A child, blessed by the Almighty with visions to aid the fight against the foul Adversary has been spiritually assaulted by vicious devils of all sorts. Taken to the famed Court of Whispers, birthplace of the accord, Witch Hunters from throughout Europe have attempted to aid her to no avail.

The characters are compelled to follow her visions across the ocean to the New World. Can they triumph against the forces of the Adversary before the veil between worlds is torn asunder and Devils walk the earth?

PCI 2404 "The Witch Hunter's Journal"

"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?" - Luke 9:25

For those brave few chosen to defy the dreaded Adversary, there is no greater tool than knowledge. One who would hazard the life of the Witch Hunter must never forget who he is and from whence he came.

Therefore it is common for Witch Hunters to keep a journal, so that they might be forever reminded of the past, and so that those that would follow them in the great struggle might glean some advantage from their experience.

PCI 1011 "The Year of the Fall"

Pride goeth before the Fall

Illiir's children, guarded for millennia and favored above all others, have grown decadent upon the Alabaster Throne. Their empire, though still a mighty land, is in decline, and their Emperor would return it to its past glory. Advised by a foreign Queen, and guided by a divine being, the Emperor sets in motion a plot to place all of Onara under his dominion. All those that would threaten his domination must either fall or be brought to heel.

Thrust into this web of intrigue, the heroes must navigate a treacherous landscape of plot and counter-plot, and choose the side of right before all is lost. *

Witch HunterGrand Tome of Adversaries Preview #2

The Grand Tome of Adversaries, the next exciting supplement for the critically-acclaimed Witch Hunter: the Invisible World, is coming soon. This week we are happy to present one of the terrifying menaces of the Invisible world.

Nephilim

"Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, 'We should by all means go up and take possession of [this land], for we will surely overcome it.' But the men who had gone up with him said, 'We are not able to go up against the people, for they are too strong for us.' So they gave out to the sons of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, 'The land through which we have gone, in spying it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great size. There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.'"
Numbers 13:30-33

One True Nephilim that is said to live beneath the waters of the Aegean Sea is Iapetus, one of the last of the Hecatonchires. This being is said to be a swarm of one-hundred heads upon an oozing mound of pulsating flesh and arteries. At his whim, Iapetus manifests one-hundred limbs to pull his massive form about the ocean floor. Iapetus has a number of cults throughout the world who worship him. It is said that he can communicate with his followers through powerful rites of the flesh.

Witch HunterGrand Tome of Adversaries Preview #1

The Grand Tome of Adversaries, the next exciting supplement for the critically-acclaimed Witch Hunter: the Invisible World, is coming soon. This week we are happy to present the first of the great forbidden societies of the Invisible world.

The Coven of the Dark Canticle

Of all the Forbidden Societies in the world, the Coven of the Dark Canticle is perhaps the most feared. Not even the Orders of Solomon themselves strike up as much trepidation as this age-long sisterhood does. When their name is spoken, I find peasants usually do so with a glance placed over the shoulder, or with a sign against the evil eye. Whenever they arrive, these beings create legends and folklore in their wake. There are sites across the world that are known simply because a member of this society worked her magic in that place, or said a few passing words to a complete stranger.

Little is publicly known about this society, for when the Dark Canticle works their machinations, it is usually from the shadows and the darkness. However, the evidence of their work can be seen on just about every continent on earth. They are behind such events as the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, the rise of Vlad Tepes, and the fall of Babylon.

Ironically, this society is responsible for the very birth of Witch Hunters, for it was this sisterhood that caused the corruption of the Great Seal of Solomon. For that reason alone, most Witch Hunters steel themselves when they hear the name of this most dreaded circle of witches.
