All names for the personification of Evil that has plagued Mankind since his first tentative steps upon the earth. Wherever Man travels he has found evil spirits, daemons, nephilim and all manner of monsters that prey upon both his mortal flesh and immortal soul. These creatures come in many guises, oft unseen until it is too late to escape their clutches.

Thankfully, there are those who have stood and not quailed before the horrors from hell; men and women with the faith and courage to not only hold back the tide of night, but to take the fight directly to the Adversary - even if it means storming the Gates of Hell itself!


These precious few are known as Witch Hunters - men and women chosen to become members of the Orders of Solomon and used by Providence to be at the right place at the right time, to thwart the schemes of the Adversary and his minions. From the ancient cities of the Old World to the nascent settlements in the New, Witch Hunters battle nests of Vampires, covens of witches, packs of werewolves, devils and more in their unending quest.

For those of you familiar with the 1st edition of the game, here's a quick and dirty breakdown on what is different in this new edition:

  • Streamlined Combat: The defense pool has been eliminated and initiative is set at the beginning of the fight instead of being determined every round. There is no need for multiple rolls every round just to determine a baseline to work from.
  • Optimized Magic System: Rites have been streamlined in the much the same way. Witch Hunters that use sorcerous traditions no longer have to roll just to determine if they have the ability to perform a rite, and then roll to hit a target; one attack roll determines everything.
  • Easy to Follow Character Creation: Character creation has been formatted to make the creation of Witch Hunters a simple processes that still permits a great deal of customization. The book is formatted in such a way that the order of choices in character creation match the order that the rules are presented, there is no need to jump back and forth.

Otherwise the game still features the dice pool system and the free-form, seat-of-your-pants feel to combat. The rules serve the setting and story rather than the other way around.

While at its most basic level, what we're hoping to accomplish with this Kick Starter is to raise the funds necessary to publish the book and get them into your hands and onto the shelves of your FLGS.

Rotted Capes Sample Character

Balor Pregen.jpgWe've had many requests that we post one of the pre-generated characters used at the Demos this past Gen Con.

After a quick porting into whatever Software we use to do layouts we have a pretty nifty looking Character Sheet featuring Balor for your enjoyment. With art by Pat Loboyko.

While the final version should be slightly different, this will get the point across of what you can expect.

Rotted Capes Funded - Stretch Goals Announced

Now that Rotted Capes has reached its funding goal, Paradigm Concepts is pleased to list some stretch goals!

STRETCH GOALS

$9,000 - Set of custom dice (2d10 with a Zombie symbol for the 10 symbol) from the good King Zombie himself along with a set of paper mini's (number in set to be determined). Added to those who pledged Sidekick level or higher.

$12,000 - GM Screen (Electronic version). All the charts and info needed to run a Rotted Capes game at your finger tips on one side and a stunning 3-panel running battle scene between the B-Listers and the Super Zombies to get all your players in the spirit of the game! Added to those who pledged Sidekick level or higher.

$15,000 - Map Pack (Electronic version). A set of (no less than) 6 maps showing different scenes and environments in which to set your epic battles. Added to those who pledged Sidekick level or higher.

$19,000 - Ultimate Powers Book (32 page/electronic version). Want more powers or greater details on the powers offered in the Core Book? How about introducing Godlings, Magic-based Heroes or Heroes from another world? This book introduces additional rules to give you and your players greater options. The size of the book is variable and begins as a 32 page electronic edition. Additional Stretch Goals can increase the size to 64 pages or have it released as a printed product. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher.

$21,000 - Adventure #1: A 32 page adventure for Rotted Capes in electronic format. This adventure will either be a stand alone or, should Adventures 2 and 3 be funded, will be linked to form a trilogy of adventures that can be used as a mini-campaign. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher. To be clear, Adventure #1 is different from the "first Rotted Capes" adventure already described in the reward levels.

$23,000 - Adventure #2: A 32 page adventure for Rotted Capes in electronic format. This adventure will either be a stand alone or, should Adventure 3 be funded, will be linked to form a trilogy of adventures that can be used as a mini-campaign. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher.

$25,000 - Adventure #3: A 32 page adventure for Rotted Capes in electronic format. Once funded, this adventure will be linked to Adventures 1 and 2 to form a trilogy of adventures that can be used as a mini-campaign. Added to those who pledged B-Lister level or higher.

If we go higher, there's still more to come including T-Shirts, a Rotted Capes comic book and (something that I personally would love to see) a Rotted Capes anthology.
