I have a question dealing with stacking bonuses.
Lets say someone has an Exceptional fervidite weapon.
Fine quality means the weapon does +1 damage (and Exceptional also has the benefits of Fine).
The specific book (p.255) entry for Fervidite says:
“Any weapon made of Fervidite deals an additional point of damage, which increases to an additional 2 points of damage when attacking any target with an AV greater than 3.”So, in light of the stacking rules for bonus sources, does anyone think the Ex damage bonus combines with the Fervidite damage bonus since essentially it would appear each bonus is an Item bonus.
I think its very counter-intuitive to be able to make a weapon from this material and not have it do with its core benefit (harder/sharper).
Obviously there is another benefit to making an Ex weapon from Fervidite, which is one more/better Rune slot and a faster weapon speed, but it still seems odd.Interested in others’s thoughts and some form of official response.

This is similar to how the d8 from Sarishan Steel would stack with it to if you could somehow alloy them since it is a different type of bonus, but it is granted uniquely from the material.
I could be wrong, but I doubt I am.

There are three bonus types: Static (a fixed bonus such as a +1 or a +2), Die (such as adding a d6 or a d8) and Die Bump (increasing a die type to the next largest die.)
Thats from the errata doc.
Fervidite
Any weapon made of Fervidite deals an additional point of damage, which increases to an additional 2 points of damage when attacking any target with an AV greater than 3.
Fine Quality
Weapons of Fine quality deal an additional point of damage.
SO yeah, it looks like they dont stack, and thats dumb since they are clearly supposed to. but repsumably they are both item bonuses. my suggestion would be to clarify that fervidite is an untyped bonus
December 17, 2013 at 3:11 am #253515AnonymousInactiveWWLS? What Would Logic Say? They stack. Fervidite is not an item, I would put it as “untyped” static bonus.
December 17, 2013 at 3:14 am #253517AnonymousInactiveI agree, Matt, but applying logic to things is a slippery slope in a shared world campaign.
Sure would be nice if a campaign rules guy could help make the logical thought become more ‘official’….
December 17, 2013 at 4:38 pm #253563AnonymousInactiveI agree. They seem like the definitely should stack but, under the current rules, I think they probably don’t. A simple clarification in the next FAQ/errata would fix this (such as the suggested “special materials = untyped (not item)”).
December 18, 2013 at 5:28 pm #253697AnonymousInactivethey stack as the bonus comes from two different sources, yes I know it’s splitting hairs, but I will add a clarification to the errata document
December 18, 2013 at 5:42 pm #253701AnonymousInactivewhat are the sources named?

I’m going to clarify it, one would be a item bonus and the other untyped.
