Just wanting to make sure that I have this right. For worn weapons they use the unarmed skill, you can use both the weapon tricks for it and unarmed attacks, and are considered and unarmed attack. Does that also mean that weapon mastery unarmed applies to them or do they need to be taken separately?
My first instinct is they are separate weapons, but everything about them is they are just an add on to unarmed makes me think they it would apply.January 25, 2014 at 1:47 am #255728AnonymousInactiveim gonna go with
Worn – This weapon is an Unarmed Attack.
to mean worn quality weapons do not have an individual weapon training
January 25, 2014 at 2:03 am #255730AnonymousInactiveThis is interesting meaning I wouldn’t need weapon training in both unarmed and the worn weapon as well. So I guess that makes my character idea have a slightly easier time with talents.
January 25, 2014 at 3:40 am #255740frootsnaxParticipantI am going to disagree.
The cestus, for example, is a worn weapon and yet clearly (to me) requires its own proficiency and mastery besides unarmed attacks. Less sure about a simple gauntlet. I think the complicated rule for the gauntlet is that like shields you get a “virtual” proficiency with it if you are proficient with a type of armor that has gauntlets (all heavy armors, some medium armors…would have to check. Think that topic has come up before).
You COULD take the vacuus comminus fighting style and the Weapon Familiarity talent, both from Codex of Heroes. That would solve the talent problem of Multiple Weapon Mastery.
January 25, 2014 at 4:19 am #255743AnonymousInactiveWell in this case it is a tail bracer. I was wondering if I needed seperate proficiency/mastery on that vs normal unarmed. Since I’m still wondering between natural claws, Bio. Adapt (bite), or Claws of the beast.
January 25, 2014 at 4:47 am #255748frootsnaxParticipantI believe Weapon Mastery in the tail bracer needs to be pursued independently of Weapon Mastery in unarmed attacks.

You still have to have Weapon Training in both Unarmed and the weapon to take advantage of this quality.
January 25, 2014 at 5:37 am #255752AnonymousInactiveCan anyone confirm whether gauntlet weapon training is included with armor proficiency? It works for shields so I’d that makes sense, it’d be nice to confirm before spending talents.
Thanks!
With a sweep of his hat,

January 25, 2014 at 5:39 am #255753AnonymousInactiveShields are a special case. Gauntlets are not considered to be part of the armour when it comes to training. You would need to spend a talent to use them as special weapons.

I checked it and must have missed it when I searched. I see the change.January 25, 2014 at 5:01 pm #255760AnonymousInactivePage: 239 (Errata)
Worn weapon quality
Change the 2nd Sentence to If you are trained in both the Melee (Unarmed) skill
and Weapon Training (Unarmed), then you may perform Unarmed Weapon Tricks with this weapon as well as the weapon’s own Tricks.the Rule as it is eratted is:
Worn – This weapon is an Unarmed Attack. If you are trained in both the Melee (Unarmed) skill
and Weapon Training (Unarmed), then you may perform Unarmed Weapon Tricks with this weapon as well as the weapon’s own Tricks. Weapons of this type cannot be disarmed, and as these weapons are worn they require spending a Complex Skill Action to don or remove. Quick draw does not reduce the time needed to don or remove a worn weapon.….
What I need to realize is that I can use a weapon without training, I just dont have access to its weapon tricks ( some people could try to read revised rule to assume they have been given weapon tricks, but thats wrong by my book)January 25, 2014 at 7:48 pm #255773AnonymousInactiveI read this as Josh does, it gives you an additional flexibility of using Unarmed Tricks with it if you are trained in Unarmed but that doesn’t remove the need to have ranks in the appropriate Melee skill and Weapon Training to use the weapon’s normal tricks.
