    Hi guys

after a long talk with Henry (discussing story issues and such) Incorporeal is going to go back to requiring magic/magic weapons to effect them.

Also the val bloodline power will be modified to require a heightened level of concentration on behest of the caster, restricting actions to non-combat and non-casting actions.

lastly, any summoned creature with the Incorporeal ability is going to have to either have it’s spell go up in tier or get re-envisioned in the “big update”

this is pretty much nonnegotiable, with the big update we may create a lesser incorruptibility to deal with the “summoned monster” problem…

so if its going to change in the BIG update, can we get a (different) wording change in the small rules update to make it clear?

    that was my intent…

I have quite a few things to add to the errata tonight, this will be part of it

Then we need to let module writers know this so incorporeal are very few and far between.

After Tier 1.5 the heroes should be able to deal with it..

but a Tier 1.0 to tier 1.4 party.. not a good idea

Characters starting at the 1.5 Cert have 2 gp, not enough to buy runes. I’d be careful with incorporeal prior to Tier 2.

that’s a campaign issue.. home game GMs know what their players can and can not do

That’s why I meant campaign adventure writers need to be aware of this and limit incorporeal creatures.

the campaign and the rules have up until this round of rules been the same thing, campaign documentation is mostly non existant because the orginal intention was the rulebooks would cover everything.

changing the way incorporeal works makes a really significant change to the rules, encounter values change for incorporeal, monsters with incorporeal are MUCH more dangerous, this has a lot of ramifications that go down the line.

    Josh,

    Then so be it.

The way the rules are now for incorporeal makes no sense what-so-ever.

Mundane items items should pass right through such creatures – that is the definition of Incorporeal.

As Pete said, this is non-negotiable. Sorry if this rankles some players, but that’s the way it always should have been.

sorry Henry, I’m not arguing with if it needs to be done, I’m arguing with “its a campaign issue” statement.

I think I see where this change is coming from, and see why it needs to happen

One other thing that should come along with this change is incorporeal creatures only do their Primary Die for melee attacks. Since they have no mass or physical form now at all, adding in a weapon Die or things like mighty swing don’t make sense. They damage you by force of will and presence along as they pass through your body.

not a bad idea.. but you can easily justify the extra damage by saying it’s a more powerful will..

they would also bypass all AR, which I don’t think they do right now

With bypassing AR then incorporeal damage should always just be an attribute die. No additions.

Agreed, but something like notable attack would still add damage…

also I can see a special trait giving them a damage die… (Spectral Weapon?)
