Pedro you mentioned earlier that you were considering putting the tag on the adaptable talent…. I like this change
March 17, 2014 at 4:12 pm #259525AnonymousInactiveOuch. But I support this.
Question, this stops you from what, taking Adaptable and Sabbatical? Sabbatical being the only training talent worth taking right now.
March 17, 2014 at 4:17 pm #259526AnonymousInactiveI think this change is unnecessarily harsh given the other changes you are considering by moving archetypes after race and nation. Adaptable needs some enhancement if it’s to become training, it’s nowhere near as good as adaptable with the changes you’ve discussed.

March 17, 2014 at 4:26 pm #259529AnonymousInactivewe aren’t moving archtype after race and nation until 1.5 john so thats a whole different discussion
and devin yes just sabbatical for expert
March 17, 2014 at 4:32 pm #259530AnonymousInactiveOkay, Adaptable is NOT just for Experts.
I’m really getting concerned at all the hits to Experts. Is the goal to remove them as a viable option?
If you make Adaptable Training now, then move the Archetype later, you’re just double nerfing Experts. Why not leave it like it is, is the extra 2 untrained skill points really causing a power problem? This change will just make Adaptable not taken and Experts will wait until Tier II and take Sabbatical which is twice as good at that point.

March 17, 2014 at 4:43 pm #259539AnonymousInactiveyes but experts are the only archtype that get to really abuse adaptable
March 17, 2014 at 4:48 pm #259540AnonymousInactiveNo more abuse than casters getting casting without meeting minimum casting attributes or Martians getting sweeping strike without a 6 Might.

John, I’m trying to completely separate myself from talk about _potential_ 1.5 changes, I feel that any argument could be headed off by oh thats going to change in 1.5
in ARPG skills reign supreme, and adaptable is REALLY good because of that, I would argue that that one thing makes Experts above and beyond better than the other archtypes(arcane and divine in specific) and this is a nerf that only shows up in Tier 2 in one talent, reinforcing the ideal that experts are ok at many thing but not the best at things.
March 17, 2014 at 5:16 pm #259545AnonymousInactiveIt’s hard to separate the potential 1.5 changes. Some of these ‘errata’ are actually *very* fundamental to character build (Requiring previous Tier Techniques, Changing something that’s in use today to a “Training” Talent, invalidating many builds potentially). I just think it’s dangerous to make these ‘tiny changes’ now without looking at character generation as a ‘whole’ and really documenting the *intent* behind the archetypes and the talents, etc. before making changes that appear on the surface just to be ‘nerfs’ for no actual reason.
The game’s been out for 3 years and changing some of these fundamental things now without a well though out plan for character building and development is likely just to upset people. If you couple it with “Hey, we’ve revamped character building and here are the major changes” that’s easier to swallow. Somehow, I don’t think Experts have dominated any tables in the last 3 years with their extra 2 skill points. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I’d love some examples to the contrary.
