Arcanis has many non-national factions, so I thought I’d make a list of all the known Canon groups which are vying for power on Onara:
“Major” Societies:
1) Azure Way – Dedicated to the foundation of a 2nd Imperium of Man
2) Emerald Society – Dedicated to finding lost knowledge
3) Feathermen – Dedicated to . . . facilitating chaos?
4) Jial of the Pheonix – Khitani equivalent of Emerald Society
5) Laerestri – Elorii wanderers and informants for Elonbe’ (more of a national faction)
6) Mourners in Silence – Opposes the spread of religion
7) Orthodoxy – Dedicated to reuniting the worship of the Pantheon
8) Sanctorum of the Arcane – Dedicated to protecting Arcane casters from Ymandragore
9) Twilight Bough – Opposes the spread of the Pantheon of Man, spread Elemental worship, support Elorii agendas (mostly Seremas?)
10) White Veil – Dedicated to arcane knowledge and the spread thereof“Minor” Societies:
1) Brotherhood of Man – Opposes Val rule
2) Brotherhood of the Bronze Catacombs – Beltine is wrong and the soul is lost in death, promotes undead.
3) Eternal Illumination – Keep the val’Assante’ in power
4) Grey Crones – “proactively” remove evil-doers from the world, even before they actually do evil
5) Guardians of the Catacombs – Keep undead IN their crypts rather than prey on people
6) Lurkers Beneath the Waves – Source of the Yarricite Heresy (Yarris is older than the Pantheon)
7) Order of the Hidden Flame – Reinstate Nierite worship in Coryan (defunct?)
8) Seekers of Forbidden Lore – Study proscribed knowledge, such as Tenician ruins
9) Seekers of the Hidden Masters – Find and reinstate the Devil-Kings from Time of Terror
10) Sirens of Forbidden Delights – Prostitute/spies
11) Sisterhood of the Golden Bough – Basically eco-terrorsists, oppose all ‘man made’ items
12) Sons of Reighteous Fury – Put val’Tensen in power vs. val’Assante’ (defunct?)
13) Troupe of the Final Note – Assassin BardsOther Groups:
1) Black Druids of Jannyal – Male Saluwean Druids
2) Brotherhood of Light and Dark – Dedicated to, through personal betterment, purge themselves of Dark-kin traits.September 7, 2014 at 2:59 am #264792AnonymousInactiveBrothers of Light in Darkness (iirc the exact name)
September 7, 2014 at 3:09 am #264793AnonymousInactiveCan you provide a reference to these guys? I recall the name, but I can’t place it.
September 7, 2014 at 5:51 am #264795frootsnaxParticipantThe Brothers of Light in Darkness are a bunch of Illiiirite dark-kin if memory serves, dedicated to overcoming their taint through bold action (and in the old campaign through the life quest).
You also left out the Feathermen.

The Feathermen don’t exist. They are the product of the delusions of an Altherian drunk.

To be more specific:
They’re not actually Illiirite per se. They’re just dark kin trying to find a place for themselves in a world that tends to disdain and fear them for an unfortunate accident of their birth.
Specifically they are based out of Naeraanth, and constitute a guild rather than a secret society (See Legacy of Damnation – pg.16). However, like the Emerald Society, there may be more depths to the group than can be seen from the surface.
Don’t worry; this one will see some attention in the future.

Actually all three sound intriguing. Any chance PCs might be allowed to join?September 27, 2014 at 11:59 pm #264944AnonymousInactiveAnd then of course there’s the

I didn’t realize I was a member of a secret society when trying to incite war between nations. That there is an offical body for that, well, it almost makes the notion uncool.
September 29, 2014 at 6:09 pm #264953AnonymousInactiveSince you are listing minor groups…
Cult of the Thousand Eyed Man
Greywald (Greywold) val’Ossan’sNot going to elaborate on either’s goals… but they aren’t on your list.
December 4, 2014 at 11:57 am #265320AnonymousInactiveDo we know if any of the secret societies not in CoH will be opened up.
My secondary PC is an Entaris elorii, as such he does not qualify for Laerestri. I was hoping Twilight Bough would open up eventually
cheers
December 4, 2014 at 1:58 pm #265322AnonymousInactiveNo clue. That said, the TB does have some evil ends so maybe not.
December 4, 2014 at 2:51 pm #265323AnonymousInactiveAnd the Mourners don’t? I doubt that ‘are they evil’ is the criteria PCI uses ;P
December 4, 2014 at 5:31 pm #265325AnonymousInactiveThey are also far more established in the world and Mods, and not all Mourners are militant.
December 5, 2014 at 1:00 am #265331AnonymousInactiveTB was a secret society in the 3.5 campaign and the military aspect was not highlighted at all.
My main concern is there is not really a fit for an Elorii unless you come from the vastwoods. Arcane can squeeze into the sanctorium, but thats about it (maybe Silver Chalice at a pinch)
Cheers
