In this module, one of the three rewards that the PCs can take for successful completion is a Lightning Tongue sword. Why is this limited to a sword? It is a special item craft from the remains of a defeated foe, so it could be made as any melee weapon. It would be awesome for the weapon to be able to be an axe or a spear. As it is described on the cert, the handle is wrapped in the skin of the defeated foe with scales worked into the blade. This description could work for most melee weapons. Since we haven’t seen a magical non-sword in the campaign, I figure this cert might be expanded to allow for additional character types that don’t use swords.

We can probably update that cert to be any weapon. It is based off the flame tongue weapon in the SRD, which can be any melee weapon I believe. I’ll add it to my list and review it but tentatively I say it can be any weapon.

Hahaha. You use a bonus action to activate the lightning and it fires automatically.

    any melee weapon…

Just curious why the limitation to melee only? I understand the restriction on flintlocks (actually who would be making them), but why not bows?

    Lucas,

Because it doesn’t match the flavor or the reward in questin.

    Melee weapons only.

Did you guys ever decide if you were going to update the cert to any melee weapon?
