Do you have an old version of the mod? I looked at my copy and I do not see a reference to a whip of thorns. Nor do any of the adversaries use a whip.
The module was originally written for the ARP ruleset. It might be possible that there was a whip in the original ARP system but that it has been edited out during the 5e conversion.
My best guess is that there is no whip in 5E
