Fine Shield benefit?

This may have been answered, but what's the benefit of a Fine or Exceptional Shield? Lowered SM?

pretty sure it was weapon benefits. the defensive bonuses were unchanged if I remember correctly.

edit: just confirmed this in the eratta/faq.

Yes. Shield works better as a weapon. (Shakes head) ... which I admit is a little frustrating to me, but just part of the larger schizophrenic nature of shields in A:RPG.

They also can carry more Runes.

If lowered SM is what you're after, try the Celerity rune.
