I don't understand the new change:
Quote:
Benefit: Choose a spell, which must be of a Tier equal to yours or below, from a Tradition you already know. If learning a spell over Tier 3 you must also know a spell of a lower Tier, of the same tradition.

You must already know a spell of that tradition. Why the addition of the second sentence? The only time I see it coming into play would be if someone took ASC or DSC at Tier 4 for a given tradition for the first time (so only had T4 spells) and then took Learn Spell and wanted another T4 spell of that tradition. Given that they already have T4 spells of that tradition, why bar them from learning another one?

Let's say you have a tier 4 divine spell caster who is also spontaneously awakened...

He could argue that because he has tier 3 spells of another tradition he can learn a tier 4 psi spell ...

This way if he wants to learn psi spell he would need to learn a tier 2 and 3 and then he can learn a tier 4

Easy fix.
Quote:
Benefit: Choose a spell, which must be of a Tier equal to yours or below, from a Tradition you already know. The Source must also be the same.

I like southernskies wording. Nice and simple.

just a slight tweak:

Quote:
Benefit: Choose a spell, which must be of a Tier equal to yours or below, from a Tradition you already know within the same Source.

I'm good with this too.

Something I noticed for Learn Spell.

When taking Devoted(Seeker) and not having a deity spell, you can choose 1 deity spell from any Tier, using suggested version in this thread, right? Or would you want to add something so a ss'ressen who didn't grab the deity tradition to use the Devoted path to snatch Path of the Drake at Tier 4 after barely qualifying?

Personally, I think it's pretty clear the intent is either:
  • You'd waste the talent (you can't Learn Spell for a tradition you don't know).
  • You would be stuck with only a T1 spell.

Generally, I'm all for being explicit but it's impossible to explicitly fix every place where someone may try to be intentionally obtuse to abuse the rules.
