I think how PCI has done the Kickstarter has been very fair. They have announced new pledge levels well in advance and been very clear on what each entails. Unfortunately, it is always going to be such that limited resources means someone doesn't get something. I think that the add-ons we have (and potentially other ones that PCI may come up with in the next 2 weeks) are great unlimited options for a lot of folks to get something special.

....and lets not forget there will be some very cool options as well in the Blessed Lands sourcebook, the whole purpose of the Kickstarter in the first place. :D

I too am of two minds about the people taking multiple special characters (not the Tultipetans or val'Vasiks). On one hand, it is super unrealistic that they will play their character in my mind as already most people have 1-3 current characters they've been leveling, which means that these characters may be taken out only for special occasions. This takes away from players who would actually USE these characters more often, and seems very unfair--even dickish--to me.

That being said, being a person who cannot afford any of the special characters, it does not actively affect me, and ultimately my personal wish is to see this Kickstarter succeed and for all the books listed on the stretch goals get funded. In that case, people wanting to throw scads of money at it, taking all the cool options only helps this goal.

Oh, how complicated our First World Problems have become!

Indeed.
You summarized my thoughts quite well. I'm happy with the pledge level I have and I want us to get all the stretch goals, but I want to see all these special characters played, and not just some 4th or 5th character collecting dust.

I do agree with this sentiment, if you've purchased a special character, make sure you plan on playing it :)

As one of the "offenders" for multiple accounts and characters, I have to say that I plan on playing all of the characters I am getting so far (Brood of Uhxbractit, Bastard Daughter, Val'Sosi with Sc'math mount, Tultipetan Dwarf, and the Val'Vasik).

I only have 1 other character outside of these, so I am wanting to play new ones and these new ones in particular in the Blessed Lands. I likely will "gift" 1 or 2 to a couple of friends who I am hoping will join us all in Living Arcanis :) More recruits! And if I can spend some money to get them something special to draw them in, then so be it ;)

I'm glad to hear that. My biggest issue with it all is that I'd like to know that those special characters will get played. I'd hate for one of these special characters to become someone's 4th or 5th character and sit collecting dust when there could have been someone else playing it as a main character.
I purposly didn't take other pledge levels because I already have 3 characters myself and it's hard to get enough games in to play them all. As cool as it would be to have the gift of neroth, be a bastard daughter, or chosen by fate, I like my current 3 characters best and wouldn't want to replace them.

So if they're all going to go on many adventures then I'm cool with that. ^_^

EDIT: I hope the stories of many of these special characters get written into the main story one way of another. It will be cool to hear what becomes of these kickstarter characters.

I want that Kio book so badly I added a dwarf and a val'Vasik. I don't think I'll play them but I will give them out to some local players that weren't able to get something.

Depending on what the Brood of the Devil King gives to a Dark-Kin, I may or may not have a character idea for it. If I do not, then I will gift it to someone locally or to someone randomly on the forums who wasn't able to get one in time.

Likewise, if a character with a psionically viable lizard just can't figure out what to do....I'm alwaysssss around :P

I actually picked up one of the Brood Dark-Kin as well because at first I thought I could retro-fit it to Kelb. After some thinking, it's possible I'll release it back into the wild before the Kickstarter ends. It somewhat depends on what mechanical benefits it gives. I'm not sure if Henry will tease the actual benefits prior to the end of the Kickstarter, or not.

Do you have a copy of Legacy of Damnation? I believe the writeup for the brood entry will be used as the basis for the conversion with some modifications and whatnot.

Hello John,

No, I don't plan on releasing mechanics prior to the end of the KS. As you know, mechaincs are of secondary concern to me behind story and I need to concentrate on getting everything written before worrying about mechanics.

However, if you or anyone else is thinking of dropping a pledge level, please do so as soon as its decided so as to give others as much time as possible to get it.
