So on the issue of flight….I’d like this Talent to be looked at for the Tier V version…
Wings of the Fiend:
Tier V Self Only
Once / Scene Flight
Clumsy Maneuverability
Half Pace
12 Ticks
1 BulkIs there a reason that a Tier V, 3 Tiered Talent is such a poor flight capability compared to the Spells Valinor Wings (all day at Tier IV), Shape Change (all day at Tier III), and Osalikene (24 ticks, perfect maneuverability, full pace, at Tier III)?

Wings of the Val should be changed to Scene though

Even so, having just seen what Clumsy does, that means that for those 12 ticks all you do is fly. You can’t even attack or anything.
In all seriousness, is the Talent supposed to be that debilitating at Tier V?

That’s cool I didn’t expect it in this update. It’ll be a while before I’m Tier V
Thanks!John

Valinor Wings and Shapechange are binding spells, and even if they were scene spells, an entire scene, every scene, is still all day.March 14, 2014 at 1:08 pm #258997AnonymousInactiveI dislike dark-kin

also you have strain to deal with….

Just keep in mind, it was always our intention to limit flight and keep it to a Movement Only action. I don’t want to have players to be able to fly or hover and attack at the same time.

Henry,
That’s good to know. I am curious then why does it cost so much to get Flight then if it’s only meant as a ‘movement only’ for such limited times? A lot of the options aren’t available until Tier III or higher (the dark kin version Tier V). Without any options for casting, buffing, attacking, or anything really makes it a ‘convenience’ and it would stand to reason that it could be given earlier in those cases and at a much lower opportunity cost.
Does this mean that enemies won’t be able to Fly and attack either? If they can fly and attack players will have no options with which to respond, since many spells only go 30′ in a lot of cases.
That said, does the Osalikene ability need reviewed? They get Perfect Flight at Tier III.John

Alright – first let’s just stop equating Heroes with Monsters. They ARE NOT the same thing. What one does, does not mean the other gets to play with the same toys.
Secondly, it costs what it does because you get to FLY. And with that ability, it allows you to overcome a lot of obstacles that others would need to be more resourceful to navigate.
Lastly, everything is being reviewed. But let me put this last caveat – Dark Kin are not Osalikene elorii and vice -versa. Each will have its strong suit and they need not be equal in all things.

Thanks for chiming in. My question about the Elorii was mainly because it goes against what you said the intention was. If it was the intention that only Elorii get to fly and attack, that’s cool for them.
As for monsters, the main reason I bring it up is that if monsters can do things which PC’s have no way to defeat, then the monsters need to be used very sparingly as ‘big bads’ or it becomes a very deadly encounter for the players. Imagine a group of flying monsters with ranged attacks raining arrows down on the party out of reach of the melee characters and the casters with 30-60′ range on their spells. Granted, players can use ranged weapons but without the right training, it would be fairly ineffectual. I’m sure PCI is aware of these issues, of course, but it doesn’t hurt to mention it occasionally.

Shape change and Valinors wings aren’t in danger of that with clumsy maneuverability. You can rest easy knowing Osalikene Elorii will rule the skies.

March 15, 2014 at 5:59 pm #259246AnonymousInactiveIt was less about ruling the sky and more about why one one else had REAL access to flight. Until this thread I did not realize that clumsy maneuver prevented actions. I thought that Psions and PoM Priest were an unstoppable army. Osalikene doing so for 48 seconds a scene just couldn’t compete.
March 15, 2014 at 6:02 pm #259247AnonymousInactiveYeah I can see that. Anything that’s more than 12 – 24 ticks a scene would need limited in actions or you would have armies if aerial troops.
