Ok guys
Other then campaign specific rulings & my brake down on scenes , give me bullet points on what you think we need in the campaign guide.
working up an outline this week
April 4, 2014 at 1:44 pm #261478AnonymousInactivewell what we need are campaign specific rulings for the most part but that’s a large category
-List of what talents/spells/skill uses/Paths are available from books (or the ones that arent available)
-Rules for Herb Gathering
-Rules for Herb use/availability
-Rules for using artisan skills/crafting
-Rules for crafting runes
-rules for crafting alchemical items-Rules for buying Alchemical items
-rules for buying scrolls-Allowed religons/Sects within the campaign along with locations
-rules for (not) changing religons during play–when to use passive values vs active values

Sorry it’s been an interesting week…
I’ll be able to jump back on this Sunday night
April 16, 2014 at 6:38 pm #261725AnonymousInactiveIt appears we have stalled out on this
April 23, 2014 at 3:13 pm #261820AnonymousInactiveAdditional thought:
-Rules for creating a secondary character (or upgrading a secondary character) upon a primary character’s death. I.E. If your primary dies, you may start a secondary or level an existing secondary to the beginning of the Tier that your primary was at. So, if you die at Tier 3.3, you’d create/upgrade another at 3.1, while dying at 2.9 would bring you back to 2.1 (but at least you wouldn’t have to build up from the very beginning).

And can your new character be ‘gifted’ an item from your primary?
April 23, 2014 at 6:30 pm #261827drafitParticipantHello,
And can your new character be ‘gifted’ an item from your primary?
I would say No.
We’ve tried to go out of our way to make the Arcanis system make a Hero a Hero because of their abilities, not the toys they have. Having a “gift” from a previous character is too Meta-Gaming in my opinion and unnecessary.
April 24, 2014 at 1:02 am #261829AnonymousInactiveI’m with Henry on this. The intention behind this is to make people more interested in doing the right thing for their character, and genuinely engaging in the story (and the inherent risk of death that is present in a world where you get into combats on a regular basis). Stuff is just stuff. There will always be more cool stuff.
April 24, 2014 at 5:13 pm #261835AnonymousInactiveFair enough on the equipment ‘hand me downs’.
Another question that has gone through my mind…say we’ve purchased a character type, special item, etc. from a Kickstarter. If our character dies, are those still usable on a new character? For instance, if someone paid $25 to play a Tultipetan Dwarf. If that dwarf dies, are they allowed to create a new Tultipetan? I understand you can’t have 2 at once, but if one dies and leaves the campaign. Or if they paid $100 for a Land Grant, and if the character dies, can that ‘cert’ be applied to a new character (one at a time obviously)? I only ask this because of the real money spent.
Thanks!
John
April 25, 2014 at 12:40 pm #261852drafitParticipantJohn,
I’ve been giving this a lot of thought and have had no choice to come to the following conclusions:
1. Special items that allow you to play a limited character type or race, such as the Tultipetans or val’Vasik, are granted to the PLAYER not the character. Basically it’s giving you permission to play X. As such, it doesn’t matter if the val’Vasik character dies – you can create another val’Vasik.
The problem with Land and Businesses is that they are purchased and tied to a specific character. As such, when said character dies, their ownership of the land goes with them.
If you feel this is unfair or believe you and others would not have made the purchase had this been stipulated, please feel free to post this question on the open forum and I’ll reply with this answer plus the offer to refund the money to those who believe this is not something they wish to deal with.

I appreciate the thought you have out into it. I think the decision for races makes sense. However, I’m reluctant to call the ruling on stores and land grants fair yet. A few questions to help compare: For the limited pledge levels that included bringing back old characters, if that character dies, are they allowed to bring back another? What about the 2 Agamassi, can they be replaced if one dies?Having given it some thought myself, I understand that the land grant and businesses and other things are tied to a character. It might seem a little inconsistent to allow then to change hands if a character dies. However, the business could have been purchased by a new character and renovated/changed. This keeps the number of rewards constant since it only allows transfer for a character that dies (or is otherwise removed permanently from the campaign). The land grant is a little harder to justify, but could be done in a way that doesn’t disrupt the campaign.
The main rationale behind my views are the limited nature and costs of those pledge levels and addons. The addons for races are much less expensive and unlimited in quantity, yet seem to have the most flexibility. On a personal level, I spent $200 for the two (which I was happy to do, mind you, to support PCI and Arcanis). They were obvious choices for the character at the time. However, if something should happen to the character (which I am not deeply worried about), then essentially I have nothing to show for the $200 for the remainder of the campaign. Now, is this concern enough for me to want a refund? Not at all since I’m still supporting a great game and company. It might give me more pause for future Kickstarters but that’s hard to guess right now. I can’t speak for others though so when a final decision is made, I will likely post the question for you to answer in the public forums. I would ask that you consider the points above and if the decision is the same, I accept that. I won’t be asking for a refund as I said since I want to still support PCI. But I think having it clearly spelled out to others would be good.
Respectfully,
JohnApril 25, 2014 at 2:22 pm #261854AnonymousInactiveWhile I appreciate the discussion about the kickstarter rewards, and certainly feel that that discussion is beneficial to the campaign guide discussion….
I would REALLY like to get the discussion regarding a new campaign guide off the ground.
Here is what I think needs to happen (and who I think could make it happen):
Tony or Joe or Pedro OR any one at PCI, goes through the list of suggestions in this thread and does a straight up yes/ not right now/ yes, but … kind of listing.
Pedro or any board admin creates a subtopic for Campaign guide discussions off the harvester forums ( or if there is a more appropriate forum in there)
Any one interested , can then create topics for the Yes /no… topics from above in said forum, and rules wording and ideas (and arguments) can be bandied about
Now thats just a rough outline, but I hope its useful in getting this stalled topic moving again
