1) Can you combine Inertial Shield + Dome of Shadows since both have Range: Self? Dome has Self (10′ Radius) though, so wasn’t 100% sure.
2) When you combine Disorient with Far Strike, does the resulting spell become Incorruptible even though Far Strike doesn’t (Since it’s a melee attack)? I would think not, as it’s still a melee attack.
3) A spell with ‘Duration: Special’ can it be combined with other spells? The two in question would be Elemental Bolt and Ghostly Adversary.

Thanks, added another question.

January 29, 2014 at 3:05 am #255958frootsnaxParticipantI am of yet a third mind. When the range is the same you use the smaller area iirc. In that case I THINK Dome of Shadow would not be area 10′ but would just fill your square.

That’s a good interpretation and is consistent with the other “areas” that match.

I understand the potential of not being the ‘same’, though as pointed out the smaller of the 2 Radius would then be a Self-only Dome of Shadows.
I’m not sure why it fails the making sense test. You are bringing up a shield of shadows around yourself.
January 29, 2014 at 4:08 am #255968AnonymousInactiveI like the idea of a personal field of shadow that’s hard to see into and hard to hit what’s inside. “Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along.”

January 29, 2014 at 11:29 am #255975AnonymousInactive1) Why wouldn’t the Dome of Shadows shrink to match the Radius and be ‘self only’ like the Shield?
2) Sorry Interruptible
January 29, 2014 at 2:15 pm #255983AnonymousInactive(away from book) it would be interruptible. Still a spell. Just like Whirling Blade.

I can’t imagine that the intent of something like FarStrike or Whirling Blade was to be an interruptible spell. You aren’t ‘winding up arcane energies for 7 ticks’ and then letting it go. The ‘Speed” of the spell is listed as a “+2” which is under the threshold of 7.
I’d like to get an official ruling on this, as it really limits the usefulness of any of those spells with anything but a dagger.

They should not be interruptible, as such they clearly need some kind of clarification.

January 29, 2014 at 6:24 pm #256003AnonymousInactiveJust to get another opinion… To me, a range of “Self” and “Self (X radius)” are not the same. The former indicates that the spell only affects the caster. the latter indicates that it has an X radius effect that happens to be centered on the caster. Not the same in my book.
But, if we make the assumption that they are the same and that the smaller applies, I submit that the presumption that it would, “only affect your square” is incorrect. That would indicate it was a radius of 2.5 feet (or some such.) Self affect the caster, not the caster’s square. A “square” is an abstract concept that helps us play out a combat on a battle map. It’s not a valid unit of measurement. And a dome of shadow that only affects the caster would not be a dome at all. Conceptually, I don’t think it would work at all.
So, while this is just one more opinion. I have to say that I don’t think they should combine for an advanced spell. (I won’t put up a fuss if they do. But there’s my opinion, none the less.)
