    Hello,

    HEre’s another one.

Looking for some comment from you guys as to whether this is balanced, over or under powered, etc.

    Thanks

    Soul Rune
Your previous incarnations discovered a means in which to temporarily sacrifice their life force to grant themselves boons corresponding to their elemental type.
Requirement: Elroii Bloodline talent, Toughness (ta), may not be Ardakene, [Insert Player’s Name].
Benefit: Once per day, you may sacrifice one Wound (in this case you do not suffer the -1 to Action Skill Rolls for taking a Wound) to imbue a single weapon, armor, or shield with a Fine Quality Rune corresponding to your elemental type (for example, a Kelekene can imbue a Fire Rune, an Osalikene an Air Rune, etc). If this item has no remaining rune slots this power overrides one of your item’s active runes. This Wound cannot be healed while this rune is active, but it does return after a period of 24 hours.
Special: If Vanquished by Wounds while this Rune is active the Rune ceases to exist, but you do not get the Wound back until the 24 hour period is complete. However, should you survive being Vanquished by Wounds, the sacrificed Wound may be healed as a normal Wound.
Special: At Tier III, the imbued rune becomes Exceptional Quality, and at Tier V the imbued rune become Legendary.

I’m away from home for a couple days and don’t have access to my Forged in Magic. But from what I remember of the elemental runes, they were not on the “must have” list. As such, I really like this talent. It adds flavor, has a not insubstantial cost, and adds a (scalable) not insubstantial bonus. I like it.

I like it as well. The only tweak I would make to it would be to allow at higher levels for the soul rune to mimic a permanent rune of the lower tier. So at Tier 3 the character could select either an Exceptional Fire Rune, or a Fine Fire (Weapon/Armor) Rune. This makes it a bit more useful at Tier 5 allowing the character to not need a Legendary weapon to make full use of the ability. By downgrading the slot I think this keeps it balanced.

With a sweep of his hat,

    Paul

Since it is only the elemental rune, i think it is balanced and would go with Paul’s suggestion. (Especially since it is taking up a Talent and not granted as an extra). I had to re-read that it was just the elemental rune. I would state specifically that the rune will only last 24 hours. Otherwise, I donate the Wound and put an X Rune on my weapon and keep it active…day later, I have Wound back and stil have the Rune.

For example, at Tier III you could have either an Exceptional Rune or a Fine Permanent Rune. Regardless of type, the rune still only lasts 24 hours.

Okay, final version (reworded to be more concise):

    Soul Rune [Racial, Unique]
Your previous incarnations discovered a means in which to temporarily sacrifice their life force to grant themselves boons corresponding to their elemental type.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline talent, Toughness (ta), may not be Ardakene, [Insert Player’s Name].
Benefit: Once per day you may sacrifice one Wound to imbue a weapon, shield, or armor with a Fine Elemental Rune corresponding to your Elorii heritage (ie: Fine Fire Rune for a Kelekene). This Wound cannot be healed during this 24 hour period. At the end of 24 hours, the rune disappears and your Wound reappears. If this item has no remaining rune slots this power overrides one of your item’s active runes.
Additionally, at Tier III and V you may elect instead for your imbued rune to function as a permanent rune of one level lower. For example, at Tier III you could have either an Exceptional Rune or a Fine Permanent Rune. Regardless of type, the rune still only lasts 24 hours.
