    What are appropriate Arcanum(Thaumaturgy)-granting backgrounds for val’Sungha?

  • As written, they cannot take Elder Sorcerer’s Apprentice because they’re not Elorii.[/*:m]
  • As written, they cannot take Sanctorum Mage because they are Elder rather than Eldritch casters.[/*:m]
  • Exile/Expatriate would work, but thematically it throws away the interesting sorcerous academies mentioned in the book.[/*:m]

The believe Cody posted somewhere that elder sorcerer’s apprentice was legal for val’Sungha Kio. But I didn’t see the thread where he said that.

The same post also said regular Kio can take Sanctorum Mage, even without the ties to the Secret Society if memory serves.

There is nothing mechanical in the Background requiring membership in the Sanctorum, only flavour text.

Maybe a little bit of a necro here, but can this be added to the FAQ? I didn’t know about this when making my val’Sungha (since new to the campaign so obviously didn’t get to the forums).
