*** This post contains some spoilers if you have not played the HP from Origins… ***
At Origins, I had the opportunity to gain a human wife. Being a male Black Talon, it seemed very alien and so I turned it down. However, I thought about it more and it raised a lot of questions in my mind. Black Talons (like all Ss’ressen?) are matriarchal. Presumably the matriarchs would frown upon such a marriage but how bad would it be? Would they label me heretic or similar, would they block mating rights, and/or something else (or would they actually approve of it for the potential political power)? My character is a Templar of the Fire Dragon but is not thrilled with the matriarchy (part of the reason he’s no longer in the Sulfur Marshes).
I’m interested in anyone else’s thoughts on this…

Males and females are granted mating rites by the Priestesses and Matriarchs of their clutches based on politics, virility, traits (such as being a Psionic ss’ressen), etc. If a Black Talon gained a Human wife, the Black Talon culture would probably view it as something of an alien concept and probably put it down to having a pet or something. If your marriage brought you politically away from the Clutch (or Tralia, presumably) and led you to apostasy, then they’d have an issue with it. Some may also believe you are aberrant mentally for doing such an unnatural thing, which wouldn’t help your case when choosing who they want to perpetuate the species.

I just don’t see a Ss’ressen male putting his opportunity to sire a large number of children at risk if he thinks he has a decent shot at being selected.

I probably should have put something there about what races the marriage offer would not be made to -ss’ressen for one. Humans and ss’ressen don’t form that kind of relationship – the mindset (not to mention the biology) is just too alien.
I’ll make a correction before it gets released to the general player population.
Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I knew the biology was incompatible and the concept likely alien (hence why I turned it down originally). It was just thinking about using it as a political tool (gain influence in the first city and decrease the influence of the matriarchy) that had me wondering if it could work (though would still be viewed as “unnatural” by many).
