Question came up at my local table regarding Brute variation foes and how they respond to Murderous Precision:

    1. One camp says that Murderous Precision only works on Minion or Common level foes, and a Brute moves a foe beyond Common, and therefore, not applicable to be instantly killed by Murderous Precision.

    2. The other camp says that Brute foes are only immune from Murderous Precision if they have the Resilience trait (discussed on Bestiary P. 42). If instead they have taken the Powerful Attribute (Might) trait then they remain vulnerable to Murderous Precision.

    Thoughts on this?

I think #2 is correct. Only Elite and Adversary are immune to Murderous Precision inherently.

2 is correct. Note that powerful attribute and resilience are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Yes, but only one results from the Brute variation, and the other would be acquired from some other means while building the foe, correct?

Essentially, you are all correct. A Brute gets either Resilience or Powerful Attribute as part of their Variation. But, they have a number of other qualities that could be spent to gain the one not chosen.

Also, remember that Murderous Precision will still do additional damage, even if it does not “auto-kill”. Resilience only makes a Brute immune to the auto-kill 1x per scene (they still take extra damage). Any additional Murderous Precisions used on them in that Scene will work as normal.
