Can you use a Trivial action as part of a Push action? I can’t find anything in the rulebook or errata that says one way or the other.

Free Strikes explicitly say no but that implies that you can with other Push actions.

The Push section doesn’t say anything about Trivial actions one way or the other.

The casting section doesn’t say anything about Push spells.

The only thing that says maybe not is the vague wording on Trivial Actions (“Only one Trivial Action may be taken during a given Character’s turn”).

Specifically, this was wondering if you can use Quick Hands (trivial action to cast while holding a two-handed weapon) with Serpent Strike (Push 4 spell to make a Free Strike with +2 bonus).

If this came up while I was judging, I would say no. You can only take Trivial actions during your turn, and a Push action takes place out of turn.

Actually, on second thought I would permit the use of Quick Hands, if only because I don’t personally view it as an action, so much as a 1 tick penalty to spell casting time.

At my table I would say no to either. A push is a reaction to something else going on. From my perspective by the time you’ve shifted your grip to consider casting a spell the opportunity has passed. Especially considering the only way that works is to start with the non-push action.

With a sweep of his hat,
