On one claw, the Harbinger Ranger archetype reflects what the Dark Crests were designed to do: infiltrate and destroy other broods from within. On the other, they are not allowed to become furies due to anger management training
, nor does their Adapted Pheromones trait say that they may choose to succumb to the frenzy as the Long Claw can. They are not susceptible to Ss’ressen frenzy, and the pheromone-producing gland that triggers it in others was removed, but does this mean that someone specially trained to hunt other broods would be physically unable to do so?January 29, 2020 at 7:47 am #277637frootsnaxParticipantI believe a Dark Crest ss’ressen can take the Harbinger archetype.
I have not seen the text on the Dark Crest special character cert. But generally as the rules go, special certs say what they say. If you post the text then I would be happy to offer (an unofficial) opinion on how it interacts with Harbinger features…

(1) I think Dark Crest can take the Harbinger archetype.
(2) But you don’t get any benefit from the level 7 feature since you don’t frenzy. Other features that don’t involve ss’ressen frenzy apply as normal.Mechanically that’s probably sub-optimal. But the build should be effective enough to be viable. Ranger: Hunter and Rogue: Assassin also cover similar ground.
