The only official reference I could find was the 3.0 Codex Arcanis, which I’ll paraphrase as: blue-eyed, black-haired, tall, and dignified. There hasn’t been much physical description of the various val’Ossan NPCs that were seen in the Crusade arc. Most were the northern, Milandric branch. The most prominent, then-Count Felix val’Ossan, was described as being a bit more than 5 feet tall with a slight fencer’s build and a near-comic wisp of a mustache. It’s not specifically stated, but it read to me like that’s an unusual appearance for the family.
The southern (Salantian) val’Ossan have been described as blond, but that may have been the whim or mistake of the adventure author.
Cheers —
James

The grey eyes are the sole physical feature shared by all Vals (psionic vals are slightly shinier grey, closer to a silver) per the ARPG pictures.

Facepalm… I can’t believe I retyped the blue part. Sorry.May 17, 2017 at 9:21 pm #275299AnonymousInactiveHey, it was written in a published source, so technically until something comes out stating otherwise it is still something people are going to see and believe. Better to post it and have it pointed out so people can see that the information is no(longer) correct.

The Milandisian val’Ossans are, in fact, dark-haired and grey-eyed, but I remember, at least at the time, there were val’Ossans (most, if not all, Coryani) who definitively were blond-haired and blue-eyed. We made a lot of Aquaman jokes about it.

Tukufu speculated that the difference in phenotype might go back to the Bloodwar where two families of Yarricite Vals became completely intermingled in powers not unlike the Val Emman and Val Virdan families.
