This is just a way of combining the threads into one for ‘final’ versions based on what hasn’t been commented on for a while. Some of these were ‘second options’ for some players, but this way we have a nice repository of talents from which we can select from:

    Soul Rune [Racial, Unique]
Your previous incarnations discovered a means in which to temporarily sacrifice their life force to grant themselves boons corresponding to their elemental type.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline talent, Toughness (ta), may not be Ardakene, [Insert Characters Name].
Benefit: Once per day you may sacrifice one Wound to imbue a weapon, shield, or armor with a Fine Elemental Rune corresponding to your Elorii heritage (ie: Fine Fire Rune for a Kelekene). This Wound cannot be healed during this 24 hour period. At the end of 24 hours, the rune disappears and your Wound reappears. If this item has no remaining rune slots this power overrides one of your item’s active runes.
Special: If Vanquished by Wounds while this Rune is active the Rune ceases to exist, but you do not get the Wound back until the 24 hour period is complete. However, should you survive being Vanquished by Wounds, the sacrificed Wound may be healed as a normal Wound.
Special: At Tier III, the imbued rune becomes Exceptional Quality, and at Tier V the imbued rune become Legendary. Additionally, at Tier III and V you may elect instead for your imbued rune to function as a permanent rune of one level lower. For example, at Tier III you could have either an Exceptional Rune or a Fine Permanent Rune. Regardless of type, the rune still only lasts 24 hours.

    Legendary Summoner [Unique, Racial]
Your soul has over its various incarnations showed a pronounced flair for the summoning of Elemental creatures.
Requirement: Elorii, must be able to cast Elemental Guardian (sp) from the Elemental Tradition, [Insert Character Name]
Benefits: When casting any spell which summons an Elemental (such as Elemental Guardian (sp)), you may lower that spells final CTN by 2. You may not use this talent with Advanced Spells unless that spell is an Elemental Spell. If you have Spell Affinity with a spell which allows you to summon an Elemental, you may lower that spells final CTN by 3 instead of 2.

    Overly Aggressive [Unique Martial Technique]
In all of your previous incarnations, you have been known to sacrifice your own safety for the most powerful strike possible.
Requirement: Kelekene Elorii, Weapon Mastery (any Melee), Melee (any) +3, [Insert Character Name]
    Category: Base
    Attack: Avoidance (Pr)
    Speed: +0(3)
    Range: Melee
Effect: SPECIAL, you may forgo your own safety in a frenized attempt to strike the enemy. The Character performs a melee attack with a +2 bonus to their attack roll, taking a -3 to their Avoidance. You may suffer an additional -1 to your avoidance to deal an extra d4 melee damage. For every Hero Tier beyond the first, you may take an additional -1 penalty to avoidance in order to apply a Die Bump to this damage die. For example, at Tier 4 you may suffer a total of -7 to Avoidance for an additional d10 damage.
Special: This Martial Technique counts as a Wild Assault Maneuver for Kelekene Elorii.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————————————

The Flowing River [Unique, Combat, Racial]
Your line has always been known for its quick reflexes and ability to move like Beroe’s rivers.
Requirement: Bloodline of Water (ta), Quickness 10, 6 Ranks in Athletics, Acrobatics, and Perception, [Insert Character’s name]
Benefit: In response to a declared attack (before the attack is rolled), once per scene as a Push 6 action, you may add your Quickness Attribute to your avoidance. Additionally, you gain a number of additional Initiative Dice equal to one half your Passive Prowess, rounded down.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Union of the Four Elements [Racial, Combat]
Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (a single, non-light sword) (ta), 6 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]
Benefit: While wielding the sword for which you have Weapon Mastery you may add one of the following Weapon Qualities to that sword per Character Tier after Tier I: Impact (Earth), Armor Piercing (Fire), Quick (Air), and Adaptable (Two-Handed) (Water). You may choose to add the additional Qualities in any order. Additionally, as a Push 2 action when an attack upon you is declared, you may replace your Avoidance Defense with your Passive Perform: Dance (Qu).

    —————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Not Where You Think [Unique, Racial]
In all your previous incarnations, you always seem to have a knack on being in the right place at the right time to avoid danger, especially in times of stress.
Requirements: Bloodline of Water (ta), Uncanny Reactions (ta),
Benefit: When not wearing Armor or wearing Light Armour, in response to a successful attack upon you as a Push 2 action you may add your passive Quickness to your avoidance against a single attack. Additionally, once per Scene you may deny Free Strikes you provoke through movement.

    Elemental Ally [Racial, Unique]
Throughout the ages, all of your incarnations have had a strange ability to ‘anchor’ Elemental beings on this plane.
Requirement: Hero Tier III, Elorii Bloodline Talent T.2, the ability to cast Elemental Guardian (sp) or otherwise summon an Elemental, [Insert Character Name]
Benefit: You gain the Loyal Companion Talent (ARPG pg. 200). Instead of an animal, you possess a Common Tier I Elemental of your Elorii elemental heritage. You must take higher tiers of Loyal Companion in order to further improve upon your Elemental’s stats.

    Elemental Anchor [Arcanum, Unique]
Throughout the ages, all of your incarnations have had a strange ability to ‘anchor’ Elemental beings on this plane.
Requirements: Elorii Bloodline talent, the ability to cast Elemental Guardian (sp) from the Elemental Tradition, Adaptation: Fortify Spell (ta), [Insert Character name]
Benefit: Your Elemental Summons are more difficult to dismiss or banish. Your summoned Elementals of your Elorii elemental heritage (ie: Fire Elementals for Kelekenes) are treated as one Tier Higher–or have a +3 bonus to their appropriate defenses–when against all effects which attempt to Unravel them or Banish them. Additionally, all Elementals you summon gain +10 Stamina.

Okay, we have on talent that keeps being sent back. It has been edited a bit to make it more palatable to the player, but . . .

Union of the Four Elements [Racial, Combat]
Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (any sword) (ta), 6 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]
Benefit: While wielding a sword for which you have Weapon Mastery you may add one of the following Weapon Qualities to that sword per Character Tier after Tier I: Impact (Earth), Armor Piercing (Fire), Quick (Air), and Adaptable (Two-Handed) (Water). You may choose to add the additional Qualities in any order. Additionally, as a Push 4 action when an attack upon you is declared, you may increase your Avoidance by your Passive Quickness.

I believe this is a strong talent that provides the most important thing for me, quick on a boardsword. When I first built Arii, I fell in love with the Tal Kanath. I ended up being disappointed that as a dex based Tal Kanath wasn’t really efficient. Now that I can make boardsword my primary weapon, I am super happy for flavor reasons. Broadsword is their weapon of choice. I’m going to be wielding a broadsword in my primary hand now and would rather have an ability that I could use with it. I understand if for balancing reason a different weapon quality will not work instead of Impact. And as you said, I can still use it with my off-hand weapon, so if no further changed are made I will be happy with this talent as is.

I’m not trying to be a pain, I swear.

I’m ok with the Push 4 for Passive Quickness replacing the Passive Dance. I think that was the only change between this and the previous version.

They continue to be pushing for making a Broadsword a Quick weapon. This can be rationalized, even if the original request was for a light, quick weapon.

Given that the talent applies to any sword, there isn’t a defined quality or set of weapon trait to assume as a base. Even assuming the Tal Kanath style, each element is to be represented in balance.

The four weapon qualities suggested provide that balance. You could potentially substitute Flexible for either Adaptable (Two-Handed) [Water] or Quick [Air]. I don’t generally think of Earth as flexible.

Looking at the master list of weapon trait, none of the others are a good fit, especially for earth. Maybe Versatile (Blunt) representing a flat of the blade or Pommel, but Pommel Strike is already a trick rather than a weapon trait.

As it stands at Tier 1 the added defense ability is in place. The weapons traits start accumulating at Tier 2. There are no other ways to get them outside of the appropriate weapon so this represents something truly unique.

If it still feels a little light I would offer that this talent and Hero Tier III meets the requirements for Cunning Opponent. This means that as soon as they hit Tier III they wouldn’t need Masterful Defense and 12 ranks in a Melee skill. It wouldn’t grant them the talent but might make it a bit easier or faster to get.

Here it is with the additional option:

Union of the Four Elements [Racial, Combat]
Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (a single, non-light sword) (ta), 6 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]

You may choose to add the additional Qualities in any order. Additionally, as a Push 2 action when an attack upon you is declared, you may replace your Avoidance Defense with your Passive Perform: Dance (Qu). Finally, the Union of the Four Elements talent and Hero Tier III are sufficient to meet the requirements for the Cunning Opponent talent. This doesn’t grant you the talent, but you do not need to meet the listed requirements.

    Thoughts?

There were a couple edits that were done on the talent focused around making it more broadly usable and that the owner’s Perform Dance will never be as high as their Avoidance.

Looking at the Cunning Opponent, further looking implies that the owner of the talent will almost certainly qualify for the talent at Tier III without the help of this talent. Do we just want to axe the Avoidance thing and just give them the benefit of the Cunning Opponent? This means she’s getting Talent+ here, and it does fit the flavour of a Tal Kanath:

Union of the Four Elements [Racial, Combat]
Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (swords only) (ta), 6 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]
Additionally, you gain the benefits of the Cunning Opponent talent.

Cunning Opponent is a strong talent. If this is going to be talent+ then I’d back off the weapons to broadsword. Consider that they’ll be able to get it in Tier 2 rather than Tier 3.

Union of the Four Elements [Racial, Combat]
Everyone who masters the broadsword learns to channel the power of the Earth landing mighty blows upon their foes. Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (Broadsword) (ta), 6 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]
Benefit: While wielding a broadsword you may add one of the following Weapon Qualities to that sword per Character Tier after Tier I: Armor Piercing (Fire), Quick (Air), and Adaptable (Two-Handed) (Water). You may choose to add the additional Qualities in any order. Additionally, you gain the benefits of the Cunning Opponent talent.

    Would that work?

Hell, boost the prereqs to Tier III and I think we have a final Talent! Of course, if we do that there is no reason to say she gets the benefits in any order, just give her all three. This simplifies it even more.

Ok, so streamlined ability as follows:

Union of the Four Elements [Racial, Combat]
Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Hero Tier III, Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (Broadsword) (ta), 6 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]
Benefit: While wielding a broadsword it has the following weapon traits: Impact (Earth), Armor Piercing (Fire), Quick (Air), and Adaptable (Two-Handed) (Water). Additionally, you gain the benefits of the Cunning Opponent talent.

Delays any benefit until Tier III which balances getting the least appropriate trait a Tier earlier than originally proposed.

    Are we good?

    Gentlemen,

While I appreciate what you’re saying, delaying it until Tier III will, I presume, not make the player very happy.

Remember, instant gratification is what they are looking for.

Honestly, it probably won’t matter too much for if it is a Tier II or III talent. My own character is Tier 2.7 IIRC, and this player is probably at Tier 2.9 already. As such, they almost certainly will be taking this talent in Tier III anyway.

That said, I’d be okay dropping the Tier III requirement to Tier II and increasing the Melee and Dance skill to reflect more investment, but it works much nicer at Tier III.

Union of the Four Elements [Racial, Combat]
Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (Broadsword) (ta), 8 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]
Benefit: The broadsword starts with the weapon trait for Earth (Impact). You may add one of the other elemental traits for every 5 ranks with Melee: Balanced: Armor Piercing (Fire), Quick (Air), and Adaptable (Two-Handed) (Water). Additionally, you gain the benefits of the Cunning Opponent talent.

Ok, this removes the Tier III requirement, gives them the Cunning Opponent early and delays the 3rd bonus weapon trait until 3.3 or 3.4 at the earliest as it requires 15 ranks. Tier IV was the original plan which is certainly doable. This should provide the instant gratification along with something to look forward to.

I’d rather make sure the Talent is balanced as is rather than with the specific character in mind at 2.9 or wherever. It may otherwise lead to arguments or demands in the future that I think we’d want to avoid.

    Will the above work?

With a sweep of his hat,

Though it has taken centuries and many lifetimes, you have mastered a level of control over your movement and swordsmanship even your fellow Elorii are hard-pressed to match.
Requirement: Elorii Bloodline Talent and Weapon Mastery (Broadsword) (ta), 5 Ranks in Melee: Balanced and 6 Ranks in Perform: Dance, [Insert Character Name]
Benefit: The broadsword already has with the weapon trait for Earth (Impact). You may add one of the other elemental traits for every 5 ranks with Melee: Balanced: Armor Piercing (Fire), Quick (Air), and Adaptable (Two-Handed) (Water). Additionally, you gain the benefits of the Cunning Opponent talent.

A slight edit based on clarity. As much as I like the higher Melee, if we’re giving an effect every 5 we should have melee be 5 as a prereq.
