I will be running Arcanis as a one-off for my group to give it a try, maybe two sessions. We play 3 hours, in that time I must finish the adventure, which means maybe cutting out one combat. My group is not into combat more into roleplaying and would like the greyish and intrigue part of Arcanis. I thought to run either HP1-1 and HP1-2 for two sessions, or SP1-10 Dark Face of War. But I have the feeling SP1-10 might run quite long, although I really like it.
Any suggestions are welcome!January 9, 2015 at 11:46 am #265640frootsnaxParticipant1-8 Justice might be a good choice. Its a good introduction to several important figures in Arcanis and it runs fast enough that I’ve sometimes dropped an extra mini combat at the Ymandrake Embassy. It is richer if you know the previous campaign but that will be true for many mods.

January 10, 2015 at 1:47 pm #265643AnonymousInactiveNever heard of the two adventures, and as I am not a Harvester…. -unless they are really worth it and a Harvster is willing, and allowed to send one to me?
val Holryn, I guess you mean Judgement?

January 11, 2015 at 1:14 am #265648AnonymousInactiveI really like HP1 and HP2, as they culminate with putting the PCs in what I consider to be the essential Arcanis experience. Having to make that decision is really tough for most parties, from what I’ve seen.

January 11, 2015 at 4:21 am #265650AnonymousInactiveTwo 3 hour slots? It’s doable, especially if you want to go light on the combats.

I tweaked a couple of things to tailor it a bit more to a home game as opposed to convention play, but overall I found it a very well designed module. It has a great hook. There is enough intrigue in the short adventure to make it easy for players to think in character (and show off the system’s versatile skill rules). The combats are all very different and do a good job of allowing the mechanics to be introduced in an easy to grasp way. And the nature of the adventure makes it very clear that it’s a setting in which PC actions have definite consequences.
I haven’t played all of the adventures that most others have, but having just been in your position I figured I’d share my experience.
We played for the first time yesterday, and two of my players told me today they’ve already ordered their own copies of the core book, so I’d say it went pretty well

Just So Shall Ye Reap. It is available on DriveThru.
January 13, 2015 at 11:51 am #265664AnonymousInactiveThank you for all the tips. Will decide if I get one or two sessions going.
