    Hello Folks,

I looked to see if this had been previously discussed, but couldn’t find anything. I’m curious how Grappling works with the Elemental Aura spell, or the Monstrous Trait: Energy Aura. Does it make a difference whrther the grappler or the grapplee has the ability active? Common sense would say no, but common sense doesn’t always apply to roleplaying games.

    Scenario 1

Grappler grabs a spellcaster who has Elemental Aura active. The initial grab would obviously proc the damage, and I assume the pin would, but what about punish?

    Scenario 2

Grappler has an Energy Aura active (for the sake of argument, a summoned Elemental), and grabs a Hero. Does the aura cause any damage during the grapple? Obviously it would if the Hero attacks while in the grapple. What if they attempt to break the grapple? Or reverse it?

I know that rules as written, these abilities are more defensive than offensive in nature. Logic suggests that any close contact such as a grapple should cause damage regardless of who initiated it, but I’m not sure that was the intent when written.

    Thanks!

Bump. Hoping for some sort of an official clarification.

    Thanks!

My interpretation of the matter is that if you are physically pinning someone to the ground, the aura becomes a weapon. It would be added as bonus damage to the punish.
