I want something similar to this
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7535o9NVzg9cGw0TVNfeVNzdWc/edit?usp=sharing
To hand out to to current players and to potential new players as a way to get more people “invested” in the game…
so basically the front would be a picture and a logo with some rules text and the back would be directions to the website and the forums ( if Henry/PCI is on board with this we can put a discount code or something to purchase a PDF from the webstore, particularly at large conventions)
so a couple of examples:
Dwarven Soulshard
In your travels you have unearthed a strange crystal that glows ever so slightly. consulting with a sage you discovered that this shard of crystal contains the latent psychic energy of a deceased dwarven warrior. Even more peculiar, this one seems to have the ability to impart a slight amount of knowledge to concerning it’s life and its homeland, conferring a +1 to any knowledge check concerning Dwarves, or the Dwarven enclave of TultipetCrystallized fire from the Naori Islanders
A Shamanic Totem from the Hinterlands
a Jade thingamabob from the khitani empire
Coral Carving of (Heretical) Yarris
etc…Who would I need to get to work with me to create these and sign of on them?

I haven’t had a lot of positive movement on that front. I think there were technical issues with the previous store, so maybe the new one will accommodate them. There were also issues with allowing people to use them at their local brick and mortar stores.
I’d make sure these are small enough to carry around (either business card size or index card size). I’d gladly help on the designs but I have no say-so in their allowance

I’d love to get some company to do custom d10’s as well!

October 23, 2013 at 8:07 pm #251636AnonymousInactiveI made business cards to hand out when I started as a Harvester. They have a nice logo/info along with the website and my email address.

October 23, 2013 at 8:35 pm #251638AnonymousInactiveMy biggest problem is finding people who will run Arcanis reliably. I started my current ‘game day’ group at the gaming stores last year. Half started as friends, and it’s grown to be 4-5 people consistently. However, advertising hasn’t brought any new folks yet.
However, all the people that play are players and I’ve asked but none are really interested in taking over running. So I’m faced with A) stop running for this group and try to put together another group somewhere which means this group likely stops playing or B) Keep running for this group and hope to get a few more folks, some of which want to run.
How have others solved this problem?

but I think it has a lot to do with people feeling invested in things, I’m not sure I have a good definition of this feeling, but I am very invested in Arcanis, as a Judge, as a player, I do things to try to make it more successful (like posting a lot on the forums to try to spark conversation)
if we can create that same feeling of investment in players, they will want to judge , they will want to play. Pathfinder (a ubiquitous highly successful system) has all sorts of rewards programs out there that create that feeling of investment.

The problem is, that most of the people who are in the game are also in about 3-5 other games throughout the week, so it becomes a limited time resource collision. It’s also the reason why I can only run 1 game a month at the local game store.
Now that said, I take a little bit of credit for getting Eric Hughes back into Arcanis and he’s got a group formed in Cincinnati that regularly plays as well. He’s not a Harvester, but I’ve started adding the games he runs to my monthly report as I feel it’s relevant. It’s tough for me to reach any Dayton or Cleveland area folks at the moment since I’m rarely there to start up any games. I might try to do an Arcanis game day at a game store in Cleveland or Dayton in the new year and see if I can ‘spawn’ a group up there.
