Okay, in looking at the Origins Events, it’s looking like many or most of the adventures take place in England. For background/roleplaying purposes, am I gonna need to take English to not be at a severe disadvantage? I had planned for my character to have French and Latin, the two most widely used languages in Europe among the educated.

My understanding is the first year/season of the Revelations campaign will be set in and around England. So if you choose to NOT spend points on English as a language, you’ll be handicapping your character a bit. Yes, you can probably get around it a bit with French and Latin…as long as the adventure is someplace cosmopolitan. If your character finds himself in some backwater berg in Ireland, you’ll probably need to buddy up with a translator.
In a home campaign, I wouldn’t sweat it. In organized play, however, I would spend the points…at least for rank 2 so I could be conversational. That’s not a big expense and should be easy enough to cover. Or not, so long as you are okay with the handicap and aren’t the sort to get into a twist about such things.

Each story arc of Witch Hunter: Revelations will take part in England. The second story arc will be in Paris.
The most common languages world-wide at this point (the language of money) are actually English and Dutch, and it has always been strongly encouraged that most players take one of those two.
Language barriers have always been part of the game. You can choose to take the languages of the educated (French and Latin), but, like any character, you will have to make those choices. In most cases there will be someone who can speak a common language.
If not, that’s what pantomime is for.
