I have a player who wanted to play an escaped slave from Canceri. Going through the guide, they saw that Canceri could not be a starting nation.

So, any recommendations for adjusting the character background.

Second, since there are a number of PC restrictions, would the campaign staff consider allowing the former slave background to have an option that the character escaped from Canceri?

    Hello Robert,

Not allowing characters from Canceri has been a hard rules for many years now.

While no one can stop a player from saying he’s an escaped slave from Canceri, the character must be built using the rules as they are presented.

Just use the nation of the place the ex-slave ended up in. Escaped slave who fled east to (ultimately) Censure? Hinterlands. Fled south? Milandir or Coryan.

As a role playing thing you say you are originally from Canceri.

Make sure you speak Cancerees. Proficiency in Religion might also be appropriate.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll pass it along.
