The first one is strait forward:
I wish my room had a door
I do not care about a floor
But all this floating around
Without touching the ground
Is getting to be quite a bore. Its about Althare’s First Gift and the floating cities of the distant past. The sub-text from my reading is that the writer may have been a slave within the city.
Open wide, don’t blink
The sovereign’s link
He sees all with his staring eye.
He was on a mission
With his only ambition
To punish the man with the winking eye.A bit loose, but my interpretation of the symbology is our Patriarch (the Staring Eye) is to ‘punish’ the Winking Eye (val’Holryn family). This makes the song and dance with Calmemnon irrelevant (unless he turns out to be a val’Holryn bloodline).
Sidenote: as Aperios ‘winks’, I believe this to be the sign of the val’Holryn family (Blessed Lands, Message #2).
Second Sidenote: As I wildly speculated elsewhere, Calmemnon could be a val’Cessari but has been driven mad by the knowledge.

It says they don’t have a floor (or a door). We know from the Deity tradition spells that gravity is a property of Belisarda and that if you travelled through “space” you would presumably experience weightlessness. So I think the Hunai at one point travelled back to Arcanis from somewhere else (either the Green Moon or another world/plane). This might be somewhat less crazy than it sounds since we know the First Imperium extended across several planes.
I agree the first part of the second rhyme seems to be all about our family. A lot less sure about the second. Who is the man with the winking eye? I kinda drew a blank beyond traditional foes with eyes … like the 1000 Eyed Man. Aperio and the val’Holryn as the winking eye is better than my idea and interesting. But I’m sure there are other possibilities.
