All the “Path of the XXX” spells start with the same text. “You change into a common XXX.” Does your type change for the purposes of being targeted with spells or talents? i.e. if you were human and change into a wolf would:

    1. Someone with the talent hunter:human or a rune of hatred:human get bonus’s against you, or would those have to be targeted to XXX?
    2. Would you be subject to spells like “enrage animal” when in wolf form, etc?
    3. Would you be subject to spells like rebuke lesser or sweet nothings when they are in animal form? (that specifically effect humanoids)

You would count as a Beast of the appropriate type. So, Hunter:Humanoid would not gain the bonus against you but Hunter:Beast would. Spells and abilities that affect Beasts affect you, those that specifically affect Humanoids would not.

However, if someone has particular animosities toward Humanoids (or you specifically)…such as from the Heretic Flaw or having poor dispostional modifiers and knows you are not really a Beast (either by seeing you cast the spell or through other means) would still treat you as a humanoid. The general application of those instances should be left to Chronicler discretion. For example, if you are a Human who comes across some Malfelans who automatically have Malice towards all humans, if you cast “Path of the Wolf” they do not suddenly go “oh, gee, we are ok with dogs”.

Does it matter if an attack or ability targets Discipline? You keep your mental stats while in beast form….

    Just curious.

No, because your defenses don’t change. I realize this may be difficult in the “making sense” department since you are still mentally you. But to look at it otherwise would be a massive faq/errata in itself (to research all the possible spells and combinations and give answers on each theoretical combination). In this regard, we need to use the K.I.S.S. rule.

    Okay. I buy that.
