This is what Paul Baughman emailed me for what he wants for the armor for his Chosen By Neroth reward:

The Armor I’ve chosen for my Chosen of Neroth character (Belthazor Nádasdy val’Mehen) is:

Armor: Ward of Sarish from Shadows of a Forsaken Past

This ancient suit of heavy scale armor was forged over a millennium ago by the Sarishan Master Smith, Quenth val’Mehan. His works have been worn by emperors, but all were believed to have been lost. This armor, an archaic predecessor to Lorica Segmentata known as Lorica Squamata, was used heavily during the First Imperium, but fell from favor shortly after its demise.

Engraved on each scale of this armor is the holy symbol of Sarish, and on the reverse is a benediction to Sarish. Beyond who forged it, the only thing that is known about this armor is that it was worn by Hilur val’Hamen, Sarish’s Justice, Patriarch of the val’Hamen family and General of the Legio Inferna Sacer.

The armor itself is fashioned from Tempered Sarishan Steel. This grands you a +2 bonus on Will saves against effects produced by Infernals. Furthermore, you gain a +2 bonus to Armor Class against attacks from Infernals. Lorica Squamata is Exotic, but it works using the same armor proficiency as Lorica Segmentata. It applies the same non-proficiency penalties as Lorica Segmentata if the wearer does not have the appropriate Exotic Armor Proficiency feat for Lorica Segmentata. The base, non-magical properties of this armor are listed below.

This certificate functions at full value regardless of its owner’s level. This is an exception to the standard item caps as detailed in the LARC.

Of the two this seems the easier to convert.

Exceptional Tempered Sarishan Steel Lorica Squamata
Special: The holy devotions to Sarish inscribed within the armor grant the equivalent of a Fine Sorcery (Wand) rune without taking up a rune slot.

Given that the character’s a Nerothian that seemed to make the most sense for converting the holy symbols to Sarish into something more broadly usable. Given that they’re also getting the sword, I’d be ok with getting rid of the special. An exceptional suit of an unavailable material is certainly nice. I don’t think the special I mentioned is particularly powerful, but it does add flavor.

With a sweep of his hat,

    Paul

Where does it say he’s Nerothian? He is CHOSEN by Neroth, but the character is a val’Mehen, no?

Aside from that, I’m okay with what is provided. My only issue is that if we give him armour made of TSS, is that too powerful to put a permanent magical effect on as well?

True. I realized the Chosen of Neroth was the cert not the character type. As for the permanent ability it seemed like the armor was different / better? than a base armor of the same type. The Fine Sorcery rune equivalent seemed a reasonable benefit. I could be convinced either way though.

With a sweep of his hat,

    Paul
