Bulk is applied as a penalty to the wearer’s Avoidance defense as well as all Action Skill Rolls which require Might or Quickness.

Per the rulebook Might is raw strength and Quickness is reflexes and foot speed.

Applying a penalty due to Bulk to Avoidance and Quickness makes sense but from what I see of Might not as much. It seems Prowess (physical coordination and dexterity would make more sense).

Was there ever an unofficial/official ruling on this? Thoughts from EIC’s who have been running RC for a while?

    Cheers,
    Barry

    Hi

    These are just my thoughts

Bulk is partly to do with weight and the distribution of said weight

Skills that use might are ones like Athletics that incorporate Jump and swim.

My experience from wearing armor (use it be in a reenactment group I have I actually fought in armor) is that even if you have two suits that weigh the same (take for instant a Chain mail shirt vs a set of boiled leather Mongolian scale), the leather is bulker and definitely harder to jump (and I would imagine swim, but never tried that) as you don’t have the same range of movement.

As I said, Just my thoughts and observations from on on official

Very good points. I was not thinking of the athletics side of Might but of raw strength.

    Thanks for the response!

Taking a ‘Unique Device’ as mundane armour is a big help for non-Supers. Removes the Bulk penalty on most armour types (and gives an AR boost as well!)
