With all due respect, he does not have permission to share our story. It’s not his to tell.

BEAST is currently discussing this topic. If/when it is shared, it will be by one of the BEAST members. As James mentioned, we haven’t been specifically tight lipped about it. But there’s a difference in telling our story, and posting it to a forum.

I’ll return to my silence now…no, not THAT Silence. \";)\"

I ran you guys at a table at Origins. Assuming you show up next year, what about relating the story during the Larp (if it makes sense) then posting a synopsis on the forums for those who cannot make it. That would allow it to be more personal and dramatic (which would be cool). It would allow you to elaborate in ways not possible in this electronic medium. Just a thought. \":)\"

BEAST has decided to share our story, but it will take some time to get the story prepared to the level that we feel it deserves. But, to address the current inquiries, we decided to share this “Teaser Trailer” to sate your appetite until the full story is available. Think of this in true Teaser Trailer style, with dramatic music and just flashes and clips of scenes; that was my inspiration in writing it. =) Enjoy!

Note: This information is ONLY being shared Out Of Character; when the full story comes out we will decide what may be known to some PCs.
THE FOLLOWING PREVIEW HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR ALL AUDIENCES
Dreams. They happen every night, and most mean nothing. But as a dream repeats, and becomes more and more clear, one wonders if this is no simple dream…

Every Disciple of Jeggal Sag must, at least once in their lifetime, make a Pilgrimage to the mound where Jeggal Sag sleeps. This journey is considered so sacred, even the races of Ssethregore will grant safe passage to any Disciple making the trip. As the time approached for The Scaled Wolf to make his Pilgrimage, he began to dream a recurring dream. A Ssanu’s tail, slithering…shedding its skin, over and over. Thinking this could be no ordinary dream, his fellow BEAST members chose to make the journey with him, even through enemy territory with no promise of safe passage to them. There was no telling how the Empire would react to their presence, and as they traversed the land, they seemed to gain more questions than answers. For the Dreams of a Shaman are rarely “just dreams…”

/cutscene: Shadows gather and clarify as a long, black Ssanu tail.\
/cutscene: A forested area with a trio of hooded Ss’ressen walking down a trail, being trailed by a skillfully camouflaged Ghost Scale.\

Ssanu: “You have come to worship at the mound of Jeggal Sag?”
/cutscene: A lush field and hill, populated by creatures of all types living side by side.\
    Scaled Wolf: “Yes.”
/cutscene: A bird flying within a huge cavern, drifting near a statue that suddenly animates and snatches the bird from the air.\
Ssanu: “Let them pass.” /three Barbed Tail Ss’ressen slink back into the forest.\
/cutscene: A Hylis bounding up a trail, observing the Ss’ressen with large, froggy eyes.\

    STARRING:
The Scaled Wolf, Disciple of Jeggal Sag
Ss’arseth, Anointed Priestess of the Fire Dragon
Ss’eth, Holy Champion of the Fire Dragon
Ss’erss, Templar of the Fire Dragon
N’cindias, Fire Elementalist of the Marsh
    Ni’sal, Ghost Scale Sniper

/cutscene: A female Ghost Scale meditating with the Scaled Wolf.\
Ghost Scale Female: “Do you wish to share this with me?”
/cutscene: The shadowed dream Ssanu sheds its skin, becoming younger, more powerful.\
Ghost Scale Female: “We want nothing to do with this.”
/cutscene: The huge form of a Champion of the Fire Dragon leaping through a wall of fire to defend the fallen form of his priestess.\
/cutscene: A fierce mage battle between a Ssanu and a Black Talon, flames swirling around and between her and her enemy.\

/cutscene: The spirit of a crocodile on the shores of a lake.\
Crocodile Spirit: “I will tell you this…”
/cutscene: A Ssanu standing in the center of a Ssethregoran village, the other Ssethric villagers bowed in supplication in a circle around him.\
Crocodile Spirit: “…that which was dead…”
/cutscene: A black tower rises beyond an underground lake.\
    Crocodile Spirit: “…has returned.”

I must say, well done there. That is exactly what a teaser should be. I look forward to the full release when it finally comes out.

Nice! Okay, I am officially intrigued. I can’t help but wonder if somehow this isn’t connected to Sengal’s actions on pg 76 of the old Coils:

From those dusty pages […of Ss’koreth’s notes…] Sengal intended to conjure an Elemental Lord from the Plane of Fire; a being so immensely powerful that it had the power to grant life itself. ….snip…. the Elemental Lord turned to the Ssanu and viewed him askance. From the forked tongue of the tiny mortal words spilled forth in the language of fire, “So, Great Lord, shall we begin? I believe I have a proposition you will find amusing…”

Just what has returned? I can’t wait to find out.

Just wondering if there had been any decisions made as to what will/can/should be released from the BEAST and Andaii tables?

Sorry it took so long! Work got crazy since October and I didn’t get a chance to work on this as much as I wanted to. But at long last, the Prologue is done! Unfortunately, I can’t attach it (see below).

I decided to write a Prologue because when I was writing Chapter 1, I realized that most people don’t know these characters. And in the course of normal short stories, there’s some form of character development or introduction. That never happened during the course of the game, as we obviously all knew each other already, but I felt it was important. Thus the Prologue was born.

One thing I do want to address is a misconception I’ve often heard about BEAST. We didn’t start out this campaign looking to have an all Ss’ressen table; it was just James Hall and I to start. My sister came next, because we realized after playing the first year that we needed a caster type (minion killer). After that, I met Matt (Ss’eth) at a BI table; we had never met or adventured together before. It was at that same BI that the other players actually started calling our small group (only 3-4 at the time) “Ss’ressen Team 6” (because that was around the timeframe of SEAL Team 6’s mission). We thought it was kind of catchy, but wanted to be a little more original than that, so we modified it and BEAST was born. We’ve had players in 5 different states, so we only get to play together at Origins, but when we do we truly embrace this “special forces team” attitude.

As for the actual Prologue…I can’t attach it. The Forums claim that .pdf isn’t an allowable file type; anyone know what kind of files we CAN attach? We would rather attach it in PDF than Word, so maybe if there’s not a way for me to post the PDF a Moderator could? Or does anyone have any other thoughts on how/where to post it?

Any time I work on anything long I do it up in word, and then just copy/paste into the text box for a post. Is the prologue to long for that?

Talk to Eric or Henry about posting a file; they will know what works (and how to do it).

It’s about 9 pages long, so I’m not sure that posting it is an option. \";)\"

I’ll talk to Eric, I know Henry’s really busy with real life right now. Thanks James!

You can always take a page from Ambassador Tukufu and post it 5,000 words or so at a time. Hell, you can even release it over the course of days to keep us all in suspense \";)\"

At long last! We tried to get this out before ArcanisCon, but at least it’s here now! Again, this is just the prologue, if you want to familiarize yourself with the characters. Chapter 1 will be forthcoming soon!

I decided to put all of the story on my Google Drive, to make it easier to get things posted in a timely manner and overall convenience for me. =) Chapter 1 is complete and located at the following link, along with the Prologue. Please let me know if there are issues accessing the documents!

Chapter 2 is in work and just about finished; trying to make a determination as to where it’s best to split Chapter 2 and 3. I expect 2 will be posted before Origins; Chapter 3 may get up RIGHT before as well.

    Hope you enjoy!
