Sextant, Altherian: This innovative instrument is a wonder
of modern technology. By using this small metal and crystal
device to line up the sun or stars, one may find his relative
position on land, sea, or in the air. With the help of this
device, a hero can automatically succeed on any Wilderness
Lore or Seamanship Action Skill Roll to find his latitude and
longitude on a map. Untrained characters have no idea how a
sextant works. To successfully use this item, a character must
have at least 3 ranks in Wilderness Lore or Seamanship.

We can always ask uncle henry about creating normal compass.

I was thinking of real world swag for players. Nothing like a physical bribe to buy new-found loyalty.

I did a quick look at Oriental Traders to see if they have cheap novelty compasses…they do. They also do cheap canteans, plastic binoculars, a 5″ inch tiny telescope and large green lollipops (apple flavored) that come in customizable wrappers. Also saw temporary tattoos from Halloween that have an assortment of cartoon-y bite marks and bloody cuts and scratches. To perfect that “just climbed out of the delve” effect.

I am ready to make a modest investment for the cause. What items appeal the most to you … or you think might appeal the most to the player base?

Hey. In an odd example of synchronicity there was a group where I work (the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) that came in and had a booth today in the auditorium about archaeology. As a result I nabbed 3 dozen (yellow blue and green) small pins/buttons that say “Archaeology is Here.”

Not sure what it would cost, but what about custom dice from Cheeses? I know they laser engrave custom dice. I’ll email them and see if I can get a quote for 50 d12s.

If they can do d10’s that’d be better

Sure … think they can do anything (d4 might be odd…). I use a d12 as my character clock. But d10s are good too. Everyone uses them for initiative.

That’s a good question. Yeah I think 48 is more than enough. I’d be surprised if we get a lot of recruits given that Arcaniscon will be mostly attended by the core players of the campaign (who I assume will already have figured out a secret society if they want one).

But there are always a few newbies and fence sitters. And people may have secondaries who could becomes ES etc. etc, etc.

And if the stuff is cool enough other people will want some as a curio/keepsake.
