Any cousins lurking in these here abouts?
Is there any common agenda items, or potential common agenda items our val’Cessari PCs should be working toward? Beyond the survival of our line?
October 24, 2013 at 4:07 pm #251663AnonymousInactiveMy particular PC, Inquisitor Alberico ‘val’Assante’ (w/ the Corrupt flaw) has ingratiated himself within the Mother Church of Coryan’s Inquisitional Arm. From there, it is possible to find fellow brethren and cover their tracks if need be. It is also quite possible from my end to plant evidence of heresy through a series of innocent ne’re’do wells for those are close to their discovery.

At the last Arcanicon LARP, I was able to earn the family the ability to “persuade” certain archaeological organizations to defer 1 dig in the future. (I was especially worried about digs into the Plateau of Dagha).Long term: expand the family….but that means closely controlled breeding. We can’t have random Val’Cessari bastards popping up…..
October 25, 2013 at 12:30 am #251680AnonymousInactiveMy main is Marcus Decius Val’Assante. I think Joe and I are playing direct cousins from the same family branch. I am taking on the political end of things….(Patrician/Legate)…..with a healthy application of psionics, of course. (Focusing on Control).

… snip …I promise not to “out” the family on the boards or through being a butt head in while playing in some mod. The first letter was largely a shout out so other val’Cessari characters would recognize Tukufu if we ever sit down at the same table at Origins or ArcanisCon. But I don’t want to do anything that spoils the fun for other players. On the other hand I’m fine if someone’s character looses a little sleep worrying about Tukufu’s “undisciplined” behavior, or if he is a potential loose cannon. That seems like a reasonable reaction from “conservative” members of the family.
A lot of the information in the latter letters will be included in the Introduction to the Blessed Lands book. Its essentially teaser info while we wait for the Kickstarter to launch. Some of the information about the Blood War is also coming out in that book. Nothing on the val’Cessari, but the parts on the val’Mehan’s discovery and ensuring Civil War. I do a letter about 1/week. A limited mention of the Blood War will probably get posted at some point if the Blessed Lands book doesn’t come out soon.
October 25, 2013 at 5:24 am #251693frootsnaxParticipantLet me throw out this question. Its both an in character and out of character thought: Should the val’Cessari look for a way to reintegrate themselves with society? Keeping ourselves secret seems like a good/safe choice in the short term, but perhaps not so good/safe in the long term. It also seems like a status quo choice.
The val’Cessari could seek to change the status quo in some way. Perhaps paving the way for remergence and reintegration. Do other players and character think this is a terrible idea? A problematic idea? I good idea? What kinds of things might we do? Are there things that might pave the way for us to do something collectively that would not endanger us in the short term?
October 25, 2013 at 5:28 pm #251716AnonymousInactiveGenerally speaking, most the code words you used were fine. (i.e. the names of bloodline powers, etc), since judges should be able to see our “powers list”. And the 3rd eye reference was cryptic enough to not give anything away. But, name dropping “Lianni” could have (or may have already) outed a big part of the family secrets. Since the name “Liana” (?) was already put out in a Henry mod as the name of a dead pantheon member. (I cant remember the name of the mod…the one in the last year of the old arc that had the god chained to the rock). Smart players will make that connection.
Now, as to your question, given that none of our PCs are pretending to be humans living in dirt caves, I would say we have re-integrated into society. If you mean “coming out of the closet” and admitting we exist, etc….well, the other Val families were hunting us to extinction. So, imho, I don’t think it is wise to ever head that direction. Hell, if I remember the Cessari doc correctly, the members of our own family that are living in dirt caves want us dead for rejoining society and risking the family as much as we have.
October 25, 2013 at 5:34 pm #251717AnonymousInactiveas to future actions, I think the name says it all…”Invisible Kings”. We stay hidden, and we move the pieces behind the scenes. That is why my character doesnt give a damn about monetary compensation, but favors owed are everything to him. He defines power as “the ability to get you way”…psionic control, money (but not money from compensation), favors are all tools to that end.
I have tried to increase land holdings, etc. Anyone else have ideas?

I remember that mod. I call it the trip to Neroth’s basement. If memory serves the name in the mod was Leeta or Leetha and her association is “of the Whispers.” I don’t think “Lianni” has ever been dropped in a Living Mod. So I think we’re all safe on that front, but I also won’t list it again.
Yes. I mean seeking a long term plan to come out of the closet. I don’t believe that other val families are still hunting us, much like I don’t think the val’Ishi are still trying to condemn the val’Tensen to abandonment in the afterlife. Though the Inquisition may think of hidden val’Cessari as a potential threat. Gathering favors and friends is certainly useful for all of us.
December 16, 2013 at 3:21 am #253448AnonymousInactiveAstra Tonsoria Ursula val’Cesari (nee Dellanov) reporting in.
As a matriarchal family, hiding amongst the Dellanov’s is easier for females.
December 21, 2013 at 12:41 pm #253940AnonymousInactiveMarco val’Cessari here, although I go by the name val’Sheem. Was from the city of Censure until the val’emmans found us and burnt my family alive. I can still hear the screams of my sister. She was only nine.
Made my way to Atheria, where my uncle took me in and taught me the family ways. Now I follow the way of a sword saint.
January 22, 2014 at 11:15 am #255553AnonymousInactiveSince this is roll call, I’ll join you.
The name I go by is Gnaeus Ruggiero val’Assante. Once from Grand Coryan, but more recently living with val’Sheem cousins in Savona. There are few questions asked of a val’Assante amongst val’Sheems.
How many of us are there? Not too many it seems. Our line has seen trouble and there are few of us. With each of us hidden, it is hard to even know our own. We are barely ghosts in this world.
