Tonight I’ll be playing my first online Arcanis game. I remember there being some posts with macros that people like using on Roll20 but I can’t seem to find it now.

  • What macros do you like using?[/*:m]
  • Do you prefer separate macros for attack and damage rolls or one macro that does both?[/*:m]
  • Can the Roll20 turn tracker be used with Arcanis? I’m guessing not since it seems geared towards d20 games.[/*:m]

Any other helpful hints for someone new to online play? I’ve done play-by-post long ago but never a live online game…

I like to use the following:

—————————
Initiative [[3d10kl1]]
—————————
Attack [[2d10+1d6!+1]]
Damage [[1d6+1d8!+1]]
—————————
Perception [[2d10+1d8!+4]]
—————————

Obviously you’ll be changing the coloured numbers to match your character, and the one listed for Perception could be any skill. The exclamation mark denotes an exploding die.

The double square bracket hides the formula unless you hover over it, which takes up less room in the chat window and makes for a tidier game.

For your other questions, I like to combine my attack and damage into a single macro as it is easier. I’ve seen plenty of people do them separately. It is a matter of personal preference.

I’ve never tried using the initiative tracker in Roll20, we’ve always just announced the tick as if we were sitting at a table together. Generally we’re chatting over G+ as we play.
