I was posed with a question I didn’t have a for certain answer for:

Can you belong to more than one Secret Society? On the surface, this seemed like a “No”, but logistically, would they know? If you’re willing to risk fulfilling one mission at the cost of failing another, it seems like it’s just a Fame/Infamy risk, so maybe?

Specifically, it’s a Elorii Elder Sorcerer asking about the Laerestri and the Sanctorum of the Arcane.

    Hello,

Can you belong to more than one Secret Society?

Nope. One secret society per Hero. Them’s the rules. \":-)\"

Follow up question that ties into other recent posts, will there be any new secret societies for Ssethric characters to join? It seems odd for a Yssera to be joining anything current except as an infiltrator, which generally goes against the idea of the secret societies. Will the Cult of Hromu or Daughter of the Hidden Adder be meaningfully joinable?

Hawk & Shield makes sense for an arcane caster. Featherman and Emerald Society are also possibilities that more or less fit.

    Hello Ken,

I wasn’t planning on it, because of the lack of exposure such groups would have in the Living Campaign.

While the campaigns may dip into Ssethregore lore/adversaries, now and again, it’s not focused on that empire or section of the world. Due to that, even if we made ssethric centric secret societies an option, there wouldn’t be many (or any) orders/missions/objectives for them, except for the occasional one off.

So, noting the above, does it really make sense to add that option?

    Thoughts?

    Probably not. My opinion.

Question on the doubling up of secret societies; does a Laeresti count as a secret society? I have an Elorii character who is also Talon of the Hawk (so also a Sanctorum member).

Is this mechanically not a feasible choice? Or does a Laeresti fall more into a “background” than a Secret Society?

This is fine. Being a laerestri is a background. While it is technically a secret society due to their mission, it’s no longer treated as such in the campaign.
