Skills and Foci

I was wondering about Skill Packages and Foci.

Under specific skill packages such as Athlete or Academic, it lists Academics {One Sport} and Academics {Choose one}. My understanding of Foci is that in generalized “Academic” action rolls the character who chose Academic and the character that took Athlete would have the same +3 from skill but in there specific focus they would gain an addition +1.

Now if a character took both of those Skill Sets they would gain +6 on generalized academic rolls and then +1 on their specific foci?

Is this the correct understanding of this? Do the Foci in Skill Sets effectively count as purchasing a focus from the Skill Focus Advantage?

Umm not quite

Skill Foci gives you the Skill Focus Advantage in the listed Foci… Advantages do not stack with themselves.

If two Skill Sets give you the same skill the ranks are added together and the Skill Focus Advantage is then applied.

So just to make sure that I understand could you break it down for me?

If i do understand it correctly if I was an acedemic athlete I would have say academic {football } 3 and academic {geography} 3 or would it be academic {geography and football} 6?

Another question along these lines. say a skill set includes a skill focus (like the Ex-military having medicine{EMT}), does the hero still need to purchase the skill focus advantage for that, or does that come along with the skill set?
