    Spirit Armor (sp) deals d4 damage bypassing all AR, no attack roll.

    From the reading, this works very well at keeping Minions away.

    As an agreed house rule, the local group has added:

    “Attack: vs Discipline” which resolves before the Melee attack that triggers it.

    In fairness, the same is true for spells like Elemental Aura or Retributive Ward. However, since it bypasses AR it is true that Spirit Armour is a powerful spell. The way around this, however, would be for the Minions to use ranged weapons, as it bypasses the defence entirely.

    Elemental Aura is T.II (AR applies, and requires an energy source)
    Retributive Ward is also T.II (AR applies, but rolls 2 die of damage)

    Been on the receiving end of both, and Astra generally ignores them (due to AR7).

    The game balance is a bit off for this one.
