I think there needs to be a larger discussion about the ‘intent’ of Training Talents before tags are added to various things.

From the existing “Training” talents as examples and the definition, they represent “Specialized” training. Something that no one else can do outside of taking one of these. In essence, you’re creating a new ‘mechanic’ for the character:

Continued Training: You’re expanding your archetype advancements
Sword and Spell: You’re opening up Martial characters to keep an Arcanum skill as high as a Caster
Warrior Mage/Priest: You’re opening up Casters to keep a Combat skill as high as a Martial

Those change fundamentally your character options.

Things like Sabbatical, Adaptable, and Rudimentary Prayers/Spell Casting are not fundamentally changing how your character’s mechanics work. They are offering different avenues to achieve the same thing that’s already available (learning new skills, raising a defense, or gaining the ability to cast spells).

These Talents really need to be upgraded before they are tagged as “Training”, as currently they don’t offer any ‘new’ mechanic.

I know there’s a push to reduce the desirability of Experts, but I hope this type of change doesn’t go through without a lot of thought and discussion, as the levels of customization achievable with the current Training Talents outshines the others.

Well luckily there are more folks here than just you and I so hopefully someone else will provide their input.
