A revised Campaign Guide has been added to the campaign website. Current rules for Fate points have been added to it, bringing them in line with the discussion from January 2014 (they’ve been in effect, they just didn’t get updated in the campaign guide).
Additionally, rules have been added around Fame and Infamy. These are somewhat optional rules; if you don’t keep track of them, you can neither gain their benefit nor suffer their negative consequences. If you do want to take advantage of them, there is lots of cool new stuff you can do.

In the document it specifies amounts of fame necessary for certain paths, etc that already have fame specified in the book, and they don’t agree. I assume this is already known and the campaign guide is the new number to meet, but I was wondering if there is any standard “conversion” or explanation for the difference?
Just as an example the master archeologist only required 3.5 fame according to the codex of Heroes, but it requires 10 according to the guide.
Has there been a change in the perceived “value” of fame over the campaign, and if so should any of the fame already handed out be potentially revised (upward it would appear)?
April 3, 2015 at 8:59 pm #267014AnonymousInactiveIf you read the Codex of Heroes rules on Fame and Infamy, it was intended that 10 points of Fame would get you 1 Tier of Fame. The 2.5/3.5/5.0 mentioned in the Paths were not supposed to be 2.5 points, but rather Fame Tier 2.5/3.5/5.0, which would require 25/35/50 Fame to get. Given the nature of the campaign, that would be way too high, hence bringing it down to 10/15/20 (depending on the Path in question).

Maybe it’s just me but 10/15/20 still seems way too high. The most Fame I’ve gotten with any group is 1 on Horst (with about 6-8 different factions) and 2 with Ss’kethis (for both primaries and 1 with a few other factions).
April 3, 2015 at 9:52 pm #267021AnonymousInactiveAt tier 2.8 my primary has only 6 fame with his Secret society, total.

April 4, 2015 at 6:31 pm #267064AnonymousInactiveAre you guys factoring in that you can now trade non-primary fame in for primary fame?
April 4, 2015 at 6:35 pm #267066AnonymousInactiveI have a total of 18 fame with ALL factions (from the Silver Chalice to Tir Betoq), 6 of which is for my Secret Society (and 2 for my national faction). This is over 18 ranks of play.
April 4, 2015 at 6:47 pm #267067AnonymousInactiveI have a total of 27 Fame. Not complaining or anything, just stating what I have at Tier 2.8. Unfortunately only 1, Milandir is 3 or more so qualified to trade. The rest are 1 or 2 fame points, so can’t be traded.

April 7, 2015 at 5:01 am #267140AnonymousInactiveThe Fame rules are overly complicated.
Any chance of something simpler? Such as using Character Tier +/- current Fame/Infamy (with a minimum of (3) Fame with a faction to qualify)?
Also, Origins 2009 – Dedicated Judge?
Also, its a Word doc, not a PDF.
April 8, 2015 at 4:57 pm #267186AnonymousInactiveAdditional question: How does it work if a human wanted to ‘join’ Tir Betoq as their ‘home’ faction? You specify Elonbe’ would never accept someone else, but what about the more insular societies of the Dwarves and Ss’ressen? I don’t see the Black Talons accepting a gnome any time soon.
April 8, 2015 at 9:36 pm #267204AnonymousInactiveI’ve met a few gnomes who would fit well with that Tooth and Claw fighting style…although ssressen do have a sensitive sense of smell.
May 7, 2015 at 2:03 am #267722AnonymousInactiveI’ve just noticed that “Earning Money” is still in this version (even though removed from the campaign).
