Hello,
I am working on creating a Holy Champion using the Order, Anshar – The Bearers of Woe. I am not looking to optimize. I really just want to play an unarmed character and this appeals to me. But, I understand that in 5e Unarmed strike is not considered a weapon for the purposes of Spellcasting (Magic weapon, Compelling strike, Righteous Fury, etc.). So, can I use the Divine Smite ability with Unarmed strike since it’s a ‘special ability’ of the class and not a spell? Or is this just another sacrifice I must make to play this Order. I don’t mind being a ‘support character’ but having to wait until seventh level to cast on myself seems kinda harsh.
I would appreciate any and all guidance.Thankx,
