I just wondered who out there is playing a val’Vasik character, or even has created a val’Vasik character but hasn’t put the character into play in a game.

Really I’m wanting to do a roll-call for the val’Vasik. How many are out there? How many Kickstarter val’Vasik were taken?

I created a character called Sibin val’Vasik with the Crusader of the 6th Crusade Background. Who are his cousins in the world?

Ruma val’Vasik here! Only played him out twice, but he is the most painfully polite fighter ever, because that is what Lord Xabal taught them.

Sibin val’Vasik is a male Martial archetype character. He is a Spontaneously Awakened Scion and a Wilder. He became awakened on the battlefield at the Plains of Golgolith. After the crusade he did not accept King Gerhardt val’Ossan’s offer of Milandisian citizenship. Xabal was and will always be his only Lord. Sibin is tall and strong and has only one eye. The other was lost to an Infernal on the Plains of Golgolith.

Sibin has struggled with life after the Crusade. He lost all his wealth and worldly possessions in Grand Coryan after falling in with the wrong sort of people. Sibin blames himself and his own weakness. The hedonism of Coryan was too seductive to resist for a time (wine, women and gaming), but has found himself again and returned to a semblance of the his old life (with the strict discipline of Bastion). Coryani people are very different from those at Bastion. They cannot be trusted like a man or woman of Bastion.

So, from those that have responded I have heard of only 4 val’Vasik characters. Kinda sad, but as one guy pointed out, they would probably not the primary character for any of us.

Originally for the Kickstarter Henry said that the val’Vasik would be numbered 6 NPCs plus the number of players who purchased val’Vasik characters to play in game. Perhaps Henry might share with us how many that is? Either way I have only heard of 4 (including mine) –
    Gabriel val’Vasik
    Ruma val’Vasik
    Sibin val’Vasik
    Solon val’Vasik

That is a sorry roll-call for the val’Vasik clan.

There are about 4 dozen total. So I have heard. Not sure how many are active. I would love to be playing my val’Vasik character. But that would mean retiring Tukufu…

Interesting. I am guessing the 4 dozen number came from Henry?

It will be hard for most players to get them into play because most of us will have a primary character (and probably secondaries too).

Pity though. it’s always interesting to play something a bit different.

    Hello John,

The val’Vasik special character cert was only offered during the ARG Blessed Lands Kickstarter.

In total, there were 34 people who pledged for that cert.

I hope that answers your question.

    Best,

    Henry

    Thanks Henry. Good to know.

So, from your original val’Vasik mentions, there are 6 NPCs plus 34 val’Vasik PC certs. So that would mean 40 left in Arcanis.

I think there are closer to a dozen NPCs. Regardless the val’Vasik are the few and proud …

    Hello John,

I don’t remember (honestly) if I said there were 6 or 12 val’Vasik NPCs. However, there could theoretically be a few more should we ever do a KS that dealt with the CRUSADE or the Hinterlands. Since only the ARG players had the opportunity to pledge for that special character cert, it would only be fair to allow the 5E players to do so as well.

However, we’re focusing on getting Ssethregore and Codex of the Mind done before planning any future KS, so it wouldn’t be any time soon.

    Thanks!

    Henry

Figured I should chime in here. I purchased one of the val’Vasik certs during the kickstarter, but I have not used it yet to make a character. Too many good character ideas, not enough time to play them all.

I know what you mean Akira.

I have lots of character ideas for Arcanis, but you can only ever have a few characters who you actually play. The ARG system has lots of fun possibilities for characters.

Now that I have had Sibin val’Vasik in play for a few games I’m pleased and glad to keep the val’Vasik line going. But things haven’t all been smooth sailing. Sibin now has some horrible scarring on his face after an unfortunate incident. So, that and his one eye leaves him quite the battle-hardened warrior.

I haven’t had the chance to play mine either. Tentatively he is called Solon val’Vasik. Really not sure if I’ll ever get the chance to play him. Tukufu is obviously my primary and ARP as a rule set is sadly dead where I am. Without support from modules to play, I just can’t get a table together anymore.

My attempt to get the D&D version of the campaign off the ground has met with limited success. Potentially faces the same problem as ARP (not enough mods…).

Still it would be cool to play “Solon” sometime. Would be the first character I’ve tried with the Arcane Archetype.
