I have a character that is a templar. The background gives you deities favors armor. His god is Cadic, who’s favorite armor is Leather. It doesn’t say Leather Armor but Leather. Does that mean he is proficient in all Leather style armies or just Leather Armor?

Away from my books, but if memory serves, it says something like “choose any one cuirass.” Etc etc. in that case you get proficiency with any one leather armor.
April 8, 2014 at 2:39 am #261557AnonymousInactiveI remember it being any with “Leather” in the name.

April 8, 2014 at 2:41 am #261558AnonymousInactiveIt says
Armor Proficiency (deity’s chosen armor
.
And Cadic says
any leather
. I read that as all Leather not pick one, or just in the name.
April 8, 2014 at 2:46 am #261559AnonymousInactiveIt was stated that you are proficient in armours with Leather in the name. The way the talent works, you are proficient in a number of armours equal to your Passive Logic as I recall.
April 8, 2014 at 3:26 am #261562AnonymousInactiveI have this list as “leather” for deities favored armor purposes. I don’t remember where I got this list (possibly a Pedro post on the old forums or buried in the rules somewhere).
Armored Jacket
Leather Armor
Boiled Leather
Lorica Musculata
Milandisian Leather Cuirass
Sicarite Studded Leather
Studded Leather
Sicarite Reinforced LeatherMostly, that’s the armors with “Leather” in the name (but add Armored Jacket and Lorica Musculata).
April 8, 2014 at 3:47 am #261565AnonymousInactiveArmored jacket and Lorica are not leather.

I know I pulled my list from somewhere – if it wasn’t in the rules, it was almost certainly a post from PCI on the old forums (most likely StatMonkey) which, to me anyway, makes it pretty official. From the same source, I also have lists for Cuirass (what you’d expect) and Lorica (what you’d expect plus Cataphractos Segmentata).
Of course, the old forums are gone so we can’t go back to double-check…
Addendum:
In the main rulebook, Armored Jacket is listed as “Armored Jacket (Leather)”.
Lorica Musculata is less clear cut but starts off saying “This version of lorica is made of hardened leather” (which also looks like leather to me).Note: I have little to gain personally in this fight as I have no active characters with or likely to care about “any Leather” from deity armor. I just want to make sure everyone is working from the same list (and, as I said, I pulled mine from somewhere “official(ish)”).
April 8, 2014 at 4:41 am #261568AnonymousInactiveI can deal with Leather in title that works for me. Would like to see a list though for all of them. Now my second question is: If I get all Light for my Nation, will that give me Advanced Armor Training in those if they are Leather?
April 8, 2014 at 7:41 am #261570AnonymousInactiveThis is taken from the Arcanis FAQ.
Question: What armors qualify as leather for the “Any
Leather” Armor Proficiency? What about for “Any Cuirass”
and “Any Lorica”?
Answer:
• Any Leather: Armored Jacket, Leather Armor,
Studded Leather, Boiled Leather, Lorica Musculata,
Milandisian Leather Cuirass, Sicarite Studded Leather and
Sicarite Reinforced LeatherApril 8, 2014 at 12:05 pm #261571AnonymousInactiveI can deal with Leather in title that works for me. Would like to see a list though for all of them. The only way to get Advanced Armor Training is to be a Martial Archetype or I think through the Squire background.
Kind regards,
Paul

Just getting back to this, but why is it limited like that? SeSeems to me or should be like weapon mastery. As a experience templar I get it three armies the same. From my background and my archtype. If tIfs happened with WM I would get mastery of all three.
October 28, 2014 at 10:21 pm #265094AnonymousInactiveThis talent is pretty much THE perk for being a Martial archetype over all the rest. My assumption is that PCI decided to more-or-less keep it that way, lest turn Martial into little more than a slightly more combat-oriented Expert.
Also, by making it a standard talent, they start turning this into one of those “You have to have!” talents like Weapon Focus was in D&D 3.5. If you keep it limited, it is a special treat/incentive to build a certain type of character.
