I’d like to know, if the Miliarius (sic) from the Ssethregore books is the royal guard of that nation, has the Black Talons provided any for King Osric?
January 24, 2014 at 4:25 pm #255674AnonymousInactiveyou mean other than the king’s champion?
January 31, 2014 at 9:59 pm #256108AnonymousInactivelol Josh, give me a break; i’ve been stranded in the wilderness, trying to find some Arcanis games, since the d20 campaign ended.

The King’s special guard in Milandir is called the Dolphin Guard. Usually there are seven of them (barring death, retirement etc). We saw them briefly in the module Judgement. So there is no organized group of milarius who defend the King. TMK. But there is also no reason why a Black Talon who was a milarius couldn’t aspire to reach that high. The king also has a champion which was under Osric and presumably remains under Gerhart the Warlord of the Black Talons.
I would note that it is my understanding that the Black Talons are “pledged” to the Duchy of Tralia and the val’Holryn rather than directly to the crown of Milandir (somewhere in the LA talk list is a post explaining that the High Mother holds the rank of Marchioness just under the val Holryn Duke). In most practical terms that probably doesn’t mean much, but if there is a “ceremonial” or special task force of milarius it might instead be assigned to the Duke.
February 23, 2014 at 2:32 pm #257324AnonymousInactiveI would like to see details on shamans and worshippers of Jeggal Sag. Livelihood, population breakdown, and such.
What gods are accepted by Black Talons as a whole to be worshipped among the Black Talons?
May 22, 2014 at 4:13 am #262438AnonymousInactiveI am sort of curious as to how the Black talon culture has changed due to its interaction with the other cultures of the world , not being isolated or indoctrinated by they empire any longer what has the effects of this new world and its freedoms done to change the culture and customs of the clutch. and to further that point what effect have we had on it , such as the Fire Dragon being inducted into the church, are priestesses being relocated to the churches and if so will these temples have egg chambers deep within them to possibly breed new priestesses and Templars or as back ups should the marsh ever find itself under siege?
I am also curious as to what happens to the heirlooms of the black talons I know that we as Characters can not take the Talent because a Family structure does not exist in the same way. but that does not mean that such items do not exist. Is there a hall of hero’s where such things are kept or are they distributed on a merit basis?

They may or may not be as tied to the culture as Black Talons (I’m always unclear on if Ashen Hides are really incorporated into Canceri or if they just stay isolated in their volcano; I get the impression that the Ghost Scales are pretty isolated being protective and bound to Herka).
May 22, 2014 at 5:29 am #262440frootsnaxParticipantI have all sort of essentially basic questions about the Ghost Scales. I built a Ghost Scale in the crusade arc, but never played it because I really didn’t feel like I had a grasp on who he was. For example:
1) How integrated are the Ghost Scales in the contries they fight for? Their nation of origin is varried. Can a Ghost Scale in Coryan be a Legionaire? As written yes … but seems to me like maybe they shouldn’t. A Royal Marine of Milandir? A a squire?
2) Do the people of Old Coryan know the Ghost Scale home base is in their sewers? Do they know the Ghost as ales were hunting and eating them in the time of their a grandparents? How do the Ghost Scales keep their privacy?
3) the Black Talons have been trying to convert them to the Fire Dragon for 40 years. Where does that stand? Is it possible for a Ghost Scale to convert? It seems the answer is no. But if yes, can they join the Black Talons? Or do they become tribe less? If really no the. What has 40 years of failure done to relations between the two clutches?
4) Ghost scales are banned from the divine archetype and divine spell casting. What about Devout talents? Can Ghosts scales get access to Devout talents through a path? (Sword Saint?)
I would love to see answers to all these questions.

I’ll see about answering these and other questions, but I’m curious about this one?

Where was it ever stated that the Black Talons have been trying to convert the Ghost Scales?
May 22, 2014 at 12:36 pm #262444AnonymousInactiveOne thing that came up in a game recently is that there doesn’t seem to be a list of common Ss’ressen names or suggestions for how to build their names. Even if it’s only a dozen or two it should at least provide guidance.
With a sweep of his hat,
Paul

D’Oh. I always get a little nervous when the guy who owns the sand box starts asking questions like this! Have I connected dots incorrectly?

I did a quick sweep through the books. This is from Codex of Heroes
Presently the sphere of influence of the Fire Dragon is rather small, being limited to the thousands of Black Talon Ss’ressen inhabiting the Sulphur Marsh and a few hundred Ashen Hide Ss’ressen found within Nier’s spine. Both of these groups are budding cultures, set to expand their own realms and therefore the worship of their god beyond their own current borders. …snip… The recently discovered Ghost Scale Ss’ressen of Old Coryan has drawn much attention from these zealous priestesses .
Also there is the fluff text from the Ssethric Inquisitor Prestige Class from the original release of Coils. That had a Black Talon Inquisitor gaining permission from Senator Tensen-Balin to make “discrete” operations in Old Coryan.
From the above I take it that the clerisy of the Black Talons/Fire Dragon is interested in the Ghost Scales and is talking to them. Perhaps the Black Talons are not trying to convert the Ghost Scales…but I would find that deeply mysterious. Regardless I would love to know what they’ve been saying to each other over the last 40 years.

Yes, I would say you made a leap and didn’t quite hit the mark.
Guess you’ll find out in due course.
