Which deity does the Ghost Scale clutch worship?
Based on their background, it certainly appears to be Sarish. COH1 doesn’t specify for rules purposes.
January 9, 2014 at 12:39 am #254822AnonymousInactiveThey worship the Herka. This rock is a self-aware, heat producing Sarishan artifact, but it is not Sarish. As such, their religion is more akin to Shamanism than one of the “Big” religions. This is why Ghost Scales cannot take the Divine Archetype, or take Devout talents.

Maybe I am showing my age here, but it kinda reminds of that episode of “Whats Happening!”” when ReRun joined a cult that worshipped a head of lettuce.
January 9, 2014 at 6:45 am #254855frootsnaxParticipantSo many Ghost Scale headaches ….
This is true. They worship Herka. Why Herka isn’t directing the Ghost Scales toward the worship of Sarish is something I don’t fully understand. If its a sentient Sarishian artifact it sounds like something it should do … But perhaps it has a different agenda than recruiting new people. Maybe Loshnek will eventually pay it a visit for some reprogramming … we don’t know.
It would seem that Herka counts as its own sect. The Ghost Scales cannot take the divine archetype or wield divine spells without embracing a heretical faith. But presumably a Ghost Scale could be be a Templar or become a Sword Saint of Herka. That would grant access to devout talents.
January 9, 2014 at 1:43 pm #254863AnonymousInactiveTaking Templar (ba) or Sword Saint (pa) then leads to the issue of: what is the Skill, Weapon and Armour of Herka?
Female ss’ressen can take Arcane or Divine archetypes (leading to the same issue).

I guess I’ll have to address that in the Black Talon chapter I’m going to write for the rerelease of the Ssethregore book

Except female Ghost Scales can not take Divine Archetype (that’s either in the errata or was stated as being definitely added to the next errata – can’t remember which).
January 9, 2014 at 3:23 pm #254867AnonymousInactiveGhost scales in general are banned from the divine archtype and from taking divine spellcasting, per Henry from the old boards
January 20, 2014 at 11:06 pm #255500AnonymousInactiveKinda tangent question related to this. How do the Ghost Scale’s view Jeggal Sag? Have he and his shamanistic acolytes been supplanted by Herka as well or are there male shamans to Jeggal Sag within their groups?
January 20, 2014 at 11:17 pm #255502AnonymousInactiveThere has been no reference to any Ghost Scales who do not worship the Herka.
Well, there is a reference to those who converted to the Church of “Become Crazy Infernal Beings”, but that is it.
