Gnomes can choose to be from human nations or dwarven enclaves. Is it legal to choose Tultipet enclave as a Gnome? If so, that is one legal option for accessing Runic Warrior (non-trivial needing to be gnome from Tultipet with DSC (or ASC) plus the other prereqs).
Tultipet is not a valid choice of a starting nation in the Campaign unless you purchased the right to play a Dwarf from that nation through the Kickstarter. I’m sorry.
February 2, 2016 at 12:58 am #271318AnonymousInactiveAnd a story/mechanics question that probably only Henry can answer…
Why is Soldier-Saints of Dagha restricted to Almeric, Coryan, and Milandir? Why not any follower of either Mother Church or Milandric Church?
I was thinking of having my Kio (from League of Princes) become a Soldier-Saint before I noticed the nationality restrictions. It’s not a huge loss though as I have my tier 1 and 2 paths already assigned.
While these nations may be officially members of one of the two relevant churches, there are cultural and theological differences among the followers of the other nations of the Known Lands which preclude them from joining the Soldier Saints of Dagha. It is for similar reasons why you do not find Soldier Saints from among the followers of the Dark Triumvirate in Canceri, even though their religion shares a common genesis as the Mother Church and the Milandric Orthodox.

Special: Once you acquire this Talent, it is no longer a Limited Talent for you.
While you’re there, can you comment on the requirements block for that Runic Tattoo talent? It’s a [Limited] talent, so as I read it, only Runic Warriors can get it directly. Does the inclusion of the block (and the lack of reference to the path in the block) mean that you can get around the Path limitation?
Limited: Limited Talents can only be acquired through an Archetype, Background, or Path. These Talents cannot be acquired through any other means.
Thanks!
It may lose it’s ‘Limited’ status when you gain the talent through the path, that does not mean you can take it freely. Those requirements must be met for you to take the talent in later Tiers, in much the way that a val’Dellenov would still need to meet all the requirements of Loyal Compaion (ta) in order to ‘upgrade’ their Companion at higher Tiers. Gaining a talent once (through a Path, for example) does not mean you ignore prerequisites with that talent forever more.
As to if it will be able to be gained through other Paths, PCI reserves the right to include this talent in later products, but at this time there are no other means of gaining this Talent available.

Sigh. Bad memory on my part. I had remembered it as Tultipetan Dwarf was restricted (not the nation of Dwarven Enclave: Tultipet). It’s very frustrating that one of the new paths in Blessed Lands is only accessible if you bought a cert from the Kickstarter (before you knew the path existed). The only bright spot is that the inclusion of Khitani Empire would seem to indicate that we will (eventually) be able to play a Khitani…

Imagine how much more frustrating it would be to have purchased a special cert and then find nothing for your dwarf to take that was uniquely Tultipetan.

It seems that coryani mother church followers from the Blessed lands should qualify as well. It seems odd that the children of soldier-saints and their followers don’t qualify…
February 2, 2016 at 2:10 am #271325frootsnaxParticipantAs for Runic Warrior…
At the last Origins LARP one of the items that could have been traded was the secret of Runicic Tatoos … if that had gone out it then the path might well have been available to others PCs. Apparently the players who turned up were so eager to help Tultipet rebuild that they didn’t need to put it on the table. On the other hand the enclave could have relocated to khitan, which also didn’t happen…
…Choices have consequences.

I did buy the val’Vasik cert and there is nothing uniquely val’Vasik (and the certs cost the same). I wasn’t expecting there to be anything for any of the special certs (at least nothing that wasn’t also usable without the cert) – buying them was simply a way to help PCI and get stretch goals funded.
February 2, 2016 at 2:13 am #271327frootsnaxParticipantI agree the nations seem overly restrictive to a Soldier Saint. In addition to people of the Blessed Lands I see no in game reason why an Altherian couldn’t (somehow) qualify…
not a path I see Tukufu or Szymon taking anyway. February 2, 2016 at 3:37 am #271328drafitParticipantHello,

We’ll have to chalk this one up to story reaosns. In my vision of the Soldier-Saints, I see them as made up of tranditions from the Knights and Equestrian orders of Milandir and the Coryani Empire (and by extension, Almeric).
Altherians, Cancerise, Yhing Hir, etc just don’t fit that vision.

And of their own? i.e. Blessed Lands? Possibly a family line of knights? Or would a knight have to keep his family based in Coryan for that to work? I suppose the knights might not have family (Since they’re all so dedicated) but between them, their squires, servants, etc, it seems like there should be some families associated with the order

I think you’re stretching to find the exception to the rule.
No ,the SSoD don’t keep families with them. Theirs is a very dangerous life and looking after their spouses and children is not what they do.
So no…

Your cert came with unique val’Vasik Bloodline powers.
The Tultipetan dwarves cert had nothing of the sort.
Hence why adding the Runic Warrior was a way to give them something uniquely theirs.

Personally, Henry, I want to thank you for the Runic Warrior option. I think it was the good and fair divide after we the PCs failed to acquire runes for everyone. I remember at the time thinking it was unfair for the Tultipetan players to not have access to their own magic because we failed to get it in the interactive. I was very glad to see the option in the book, and I’m someone who failed to by a Tultipetan character like I should have in the Kickstarter.
February 5, 2016 at 2:11 am #271405AnonymousInactiveWith the introduction of ranged Fighting Styles (Arrow Storm and Galloping Rain), the [Stance] rules need to be updated.
Stance: If you possess more than one Stance Talent, you
must announce which Stance you wish to use before you
perform any attack rolls. All benefits and penalties remain
in effect until the beginning of your next action. You must
be in melee combat and perform a melee attack to utilize any
Stance Talent, and you may only benefit from a single Stance
Talent at any one time.Suggested change: “You must perform an attack Action Roll with an eligible Weapon to utilize any Stance Talent.”
