How many characters have you built; how many of those actually have been played?
January 9, 2014 at 5:04 pm #254879AnonymousInactiveBuilt: a dozen or two
Played: 4January 9, 2014 at 5:06 pm #254880AnonymousInactiveBuilt: Scads (I built at least the basic versions of almost all the characters in Saskatoon, plus a bunch of pre-gens)
Played: 3.
January 9, 2014 at 5:13 pm #254881AnonymousInactiveOkay so it’s not just me!
When I first started playing with Josh E, I had four characters built.
Two now have experience and I’ve re-built the other two just in case, with an idea for a 5th and 6th character in the wings.
1. Ss’ressen Templar (Martial)
2. val’Inares Sanctorum Mage (Arcane)
3. Kio Noble Born (Martial)
4. Berokene Elder Sorcerer’s Apprentice (Arcane)5. val’Mordane Initiate of Sarish (Divine)
6. Some sort of val’Mehan Psion/Emmissary/Diplomat thingyJanuary 9, 2014 at 5:20 pm #254882AnonymousInactiveI’m a bit different, I’ve only built 2 characters, my main and an alt that I’ve played a few times.
That said, I probably created 4-6 versions of my main
I tend to get very into character building but usually focus on 1-2 characters but do a lot of variations.John

I tend to get very into character building but usually focus on 1-2 characters but do a lot of variations.I do that on occasion as well. My secondary (Ss’ressen “soldier”) has already been built twice and I have to rebuild him a third time (minor but important rules interpretation I was wrong on) – I think I’m going to see how it works as Expert (previous two were Martial builds).
I put in for a val’Vasik on the Kickstarter so I’ll presumably be building one of those as well.
January 9, 2014 at 6:02 pm #254886AnonymousInactiveI’ve probably put down on paper a couple dozen characters, mostly just proof of concept, I’ve played 6-7 of em, trying them out on replays of mods as needed
January 10, 2014 at 4:45 am #254939frootsnaxParticipantOver a dozen.
My first build was a guy called Ryszard, a divine Nieirite. Took two tries to get him so I liked him at creation (discovered I don’t want to wait on the speed of a two handed sword). Then discovered I didn’t really like how the divine archetype advanced through tiers (melee doesn’t keep up). Eventually dropped.
My second build was a martial build for a kio called Rhyndei. Only played it in a few intro modules. Liked the martial archetype. Didn’t like playing a Kio during the crusade…its a long way to go looking for a fight…
Meanwhile I built a couple of characters as proof of concept or as NPCs to give out at gamedays.
My third build, who was my primary for the Crusade Arc was Eisener (Martial, val’Holryn, Templar of Nier from Almeric … yeah Almeric). Very happy with mechanics, backstory, and purpose in the Crusade.
Revisited earlier builds and rechecked many of them. made some more to see how a talent like Arcimious Primous works with an expert or martial archetype.
I judge a lot so I had plenty of VCPs to put in Ambassador Tukufu (Expert, val’Holryn, Awakened Psion) of Altheria. Tukufu actually took some time to get the personality down. The stuff I wrote over in the crossroads tavern finally helped me lock him down as a serious thinker posing as a dilettante. In that sense he’s based on an old character I used to play called Nepenthes. Tukufu is going to be my primary for the Blessed Lands Arc.
January 10, 2014 at 6:12 am #254944AnonymousInactiveMy “concepts” folder for Arcanis has 7 characters. At least 2 of those have been retooled a few times between hard drive wipes.
I’ve played 1.
January 10, 2014 at 11:48 am #254952AnonymousInactiveI have built at least 6 characters. I primarily play only my main. I have a divine val and an arcane ghost scale at the ready for replays. I have one character I won’t play in living but would use for special events.
January 10, 2014 at 9:40 pm #255030AnonymousInactiveBuilt probably a dozen with some of them with multiple variations I have played 5 but 3 of them were retired after a mod or 3.
January 23, 2014 at 5:02 pm #255595AnonymousInactiveI’ve made more characters then I can remember. … at least 10 or so.
It’s funny that most of the ones I’ve made have been Elorii. I LOVED elorii in the old arc, but now… I find them not so great anymore. They don’t have the same versitility as the Val. What made them so cool in the d20 arc isn’t there anymore.Characters that I’ve played: 3. Two Val and an Elorii. Even then my 3rd character is only 1.2, and I don’t get to play with her much.

Can I be nosy and ask what that was, from your perspective?Scott
January 23, 2014 at 6:50 pm #255616AnonymousInactivePersonally I find the Elorii to be MORE mechanically exciting in this iteration, but they’re still the one race I’m least interested in playing (not sure why, they just never interested me as a playable race), so I too am interested.
January 23, 2014 at 7:36 pm #255620AnonymousInactiveI would be willing to bet you can map personality types and demographics to the kind of character your likely to play
