Much more severe than cleric vs. Paladin in D&D? At 10th level a paladin has 2 spells, and a cleric has 20. How is this worse? At tier 3 you will get 1/4 the number of spells. Sure, not arguing it sucks, but it does allow you to choose what spell is most important to you and really work it, much like a paladin did in D&D.
Now, the introduction of some Templar specific spells might be an interesting idea in the Ssethregore book, much like paladin specific spells. Not spells a priest couldn’t learn of course, but something they might culturally look down upon as a spell meant to help their lessers or something.
Which version of D&D are you looking at? I haven’t played 3.x in too long to remember how it broke down there. In 4e, they pretty much had exactly the same number of abilities (spells or special powers or whatever). In 5e, a Paladin will have over half as many spells as a Cleric (Cleric = Wis+level, Paladin = Cha+1/2 level different spells prepared (and the Paladin will have over half as many spell slots)). I call over 75% reduction between DSC and RP much more severe (I wouldn’t be nearly as upset if it was a 25% or even 50% reduction).

apologies, I thought we were talking about the last D&D edition Arcanis was actually played in, since that is the fairest comparison, not 4th edition. So I went back to 3.5.

Thank you.
I tend to spend a lot of time building (and planning advances for) characters so a complete rebuild to 2.8 will take a significant amount of time (not sure if I’ll have it before Origins). Depending on how solid an idea (concept and mechanics) I have, it can take me up to around 5-10 hours to do a 1.5 character (analyzing all the different options and often building 2-4 versions to see which fits what I want best).

That was my first thought except both Templar (background) and Templar Initiate (path) say that any Ss’ressen worshippers of the Fire Dragon must be male.

April 25, 2016 at 3:56 pm #272490AnonymousInactiveThis rules fix seems to fix the Rat catcher path, since any males can go Templar and become Holy champions to qualify.
