You should errata channel to (Primary) for damage. This will prevent channel from dealing damage automatically.

Channel already has many restrictions built in, I’m not sure why it needs errata?

    1) It only affects your sect (Of which there are 3-4 main ones)
    2) It doesn’t damage mindless creatures

Reducing the area makes it *more* useful as healing since you’ve got less of a chance of hitting your non-sect party.

Which usually will hit 1-2 of your party in normal situations and damage them.

By making it a smaller radius you’re just making it easier to use as a damaging spell *shrug*. I don’t have it anymore so it doesn’t affect me, but it certainly seemed a nice way to heal at a distance, with the risk of hurting other allies.

I have seen 2 full groups of minions wiped with 1 casting of this a couple of times now. Hell, I even think it should be 5′. That is the same size as Mental Scream and Blood Boil, which are considered “minion killer” spells. People are not using it as a healing spell.

I think the best way to handle this spell would be to alter the damage effect to a condition effect.. maybe Shaken?

not a minion killer but very helpful.

Well there are two problems with channel.

    1) Since damage is a d8 and not primary, if you miss you still deal d8 damage, except to minions.

    2) It has a rather large area to start out with. The area should probably be reduced to 10′, or even 5′ with adaptations to get it back to 20′.

Shaken? There is nothing wrong with this being a minion killer, problem is it kills minions right out the gate. I could Crushing Weight an area about mid tier 1 and others can Castigate areas around the same time.

    duh what?

Pete, you have to explain why changing the spell into something completely different is better then bringing the spell into reasonable power levels and making it work correctly with AOE damage

    it was just an idea..

we can change it to (Primary) but with exploding dice it can become the super heal..

we can change it to (Primary) but with exploding dice it can become the super heal..Meh. With the range decrease it won’t be that bad. Are you going to add area adaptations?

the area of effect is a danger as much as a advantage.. you can totally mess up another PC if you roll and explode on the die..

as far as adaptations… I never intended to add any

another idea, we can add a special effect, that if this is used on minions and misses it deals no damage..
